Join theIce Cream Payroll Coordinatorrole atUnilever .We are looking for a Payroll SME to manage payroll operations across entities, liaise with external vendors, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement.Purpose of Role The Payroll SME acts as the key liaison between the company and its external payroll vendor(s), ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across designated entities. This role supports operational excellence, drives process improvements, and ensures alignment with internal controls and local statutory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesVendor Management – Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll vendor(s), coordinate governance meetings, and resolve operational queries.Payroll Operations – Oversee end‑to‑end payroll processing activities for assigned countries/entities, validate payroll outputs (gross‑to‑net calculations, statutory deductions, final reports), and ensure timely submission of payroll data and approvals.Payments – Prepare net, statutory, and third‑party payments.Compliance & Controls – Ensure payroll processes comply with local labor laws, tax regulations, and internal audit requirements; support wage tax audits and statutory reporting in collaboration with the vendor.Stakeholder Collaboration – Work closely with HR (HQ and factories), Finance, and Legal teams to ensure payroll accuracy and alignment with organizational policies.Continuous Improvement – Identify and implement process improvements, support system upgrades, automation initiatives, and change management.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in HR, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.5+ years of experience in payroll operations, preferably in a multinational environment.Strong understanding of payroll systems, vendor management, and statutory compliance.Experience working with external payroll providers (e.g., Neeyamo, EY, ADP, SD Worx).Proficiency in Excel and payroll software/tools.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.English mandatory.Location & EmploymentRome, Latium, Italy – Greater Rome Metropolitan Area.Full‑time.Mid‑Senior level.Equal Opportunity Statement Equal Opportunity Employer: Unilever is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
