About the Role

Institute Itech is seeking a Computer Science Junior to support the design, development and maintenance of internal platforms, software systems and data-driven applications.

The role involves contributing to software development, database management, data processing workflows that support Institute Itech’s research and development. 

This role is designed for a motivated junior engineer who wants to grow in:

• backend development
• data validation & AI pipeline 
• desktop application development
• scientific and clinical data systems

The selected candidate will work under senior engineers and project managers, contributing to real-world development tasks.

Responsibilities:

Software Development

• Assist in backend development (APIs, services, system logic)
• Write and maintain Python modules that connect backend and research pipelines
• Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code
• Support development of research platforms

Data & AI Support

• Assist in data processing and preparation
• Support AI/ML pipelines under supervision

Systems & Infrastructure

• Support deployment and testing of applications
• Support integration between backend and frontend
• Assist with testing, debugging and documenting the data pipeline
• Help maintain code quality and consistency across the codebase 

Collaboration

• Work with senior developers, AI engineers, and domain experts 
• Participate in development sprints and technical discussions
• Contribute to documentation and code organization

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 0–2 years of experience (internship or academic projects accepted)
• Solid foundations in Python
• Understanding of programming principles, data structures and algorithms 
• Familiarity with Git and version-control workflows
• Backend development concepts
• Databases (SQL or NoSQL)
• Strong willingness to learn and grow
• Fluent English and Italian

Preferred Qualifications

• Nice to have experience with: Node.js, Typescript/React or similar frontend frameworks
• Familiarity with JSON Schema or API/data-contract design
• Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts
• Interest in or exposure to neuroimaging/clinical research data
• Interest in AI, data systems, or advanced technologies

Compensation

Annual Gross Salary: €40,000 – €44,000 , depending on experience and skills.
