Our expertise extends from Information System support to consultancy under the government framework, supporting key entities such as the European Commission and Executive Agencies. We are hiring a Data Scientist for an EU agency in Ispra, Italy and various locations around Europe. Key Responsibilities Collect business requirement and support the team activities regarding the design and prototyping of data mining, machine learning and business intelligence solutions. Contribute to the research and development of new statistical and machine learning models. The main focus of this task is in the area of trade data analysis and anti-fraud. Develop software in one or more of the following languages: R, Python, SQL, Matlab, and SAS. Contribute to the testing of the implemented analytical functions. Prepare the required datasets by collecting, cleaning, integrating and transforming different source data (e.g. ETL). Draft documentation in fluent English. Documentation could include for example scientific publications, user manuals and technical description needed by technology transfer. Realise webinars modules to explain the use of implemented tools, prepare slides that can be used for trainings, and present the work done in meetings (English language). Skills Ability to communicate fluently in oral and written English Capacity to work efficiently in a multi-disciplinary team Capacity to learn new programming languages Specific Expertise Experience and understanding of statistical analysis Experience in Machine Learning (including Deep learning) Hands on experience building extract, transform, load (ETL) data pipelines (SQL-based, KNIME, Talend) Hands on experience with Jupyter Notebook or KNIME Hands on experience with large SQL databases and Oracle PL/SQL Knowledge of noSQL data management tools (NoSQL DB, MongoDB) and distributed processing tools (Hadoop, Spark) Knowledge in one of the following areas: predictive (forecasting, recommendation), prescriptive (simulation), trends/anomalies detection in datasets, recommendation systems Qualifications A BA/BS in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Math, Physics or other technical disciplines is desirable.
