We are hiring aDirector of Sustainability Europe (m./f.).


Location : France (Gennevilliers, Tours, Amiens) or Italy (Piossasco).


Who will you be working worth?

Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Sustainability, the Director, EU Sustainability will lead execution of Wabtec's sustainability strategy across the Transit business and European operations while ensuring alignment with the Company's global sustainability priorities and governance framework. This role serves as a strategic advisor to business leaders, translating evolving sustainability regulations, customer requirements, market trends, and stakeholder expectations into practical business strategies and actions. The position combines advanced technical expertise in sustainability, environmental, and ESG disclosure frameworks with the ability to influence senior leaders, engage customers, and support commercial growth.


How will you make a difference?

The successful candidate will be a member of the Corporate Sustainability team and partner closely with business leadership, Finance, Legal, Procurement, EHS, Government Affairs, and Communications to advance sustainability initiatives, coordinate disclosure obligations, and strengthen Wabtec's sustainability leadership in the transportation industry.


What will your typical day look like?
ESG Reporting & Regulatory Support

  • Coordinate Wabtec’s response to emerging sustainability disclosure requirements, including CSRD, ESRS, EU Taxonomy, other EU disclosure requirements, and ISSB-aligned reporting expectations.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise leadership regarding implications for business strategy, governance, reporting, and operational practices.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to oversee sustainability reporting governance, controls, data collection, assurance readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives that support transparent, reliable, and assurance-ready sustainability disclosures.

Sustainability Strategy & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead implementation of Wabtec's corporate sustainability strategy across the Transit business and European operations, integrating enterprise sustainability objectives into business initiatives, programs, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor emerging sustainability trends, market developments, and business impacts, recommending strategic sustainability actions that support business growth, customer engagement, operational performance, and long-term value creation.
  • Serve as the primary sustainability advisor to regional and business leadership teams.

Customer & Market Engagement

  • Support commercial teams in responding to customer sustainability inquiries, supplier assessments, procurement requirements, and ESG questionnaires.
  • Build strategic relationships with customer sustainability, environmental, compliance, and procurement leaders, and partner with commercial teams to strengthen customer value propositions and support business growth.
  • Represent Wabtec in sustainability-related industry forums, conferences, trade associations, and stakeholder engagements.

Leadership Capabilities

  • Strategic, collaborative leader who connects sustainability priorities with business objectives and thrives in cross-functional, matrixed environments.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to communicate complex topics to diverse audiences and translate technical and regulatory requirements into practical recommendations.
  • Commercially minded with an understanding of customer needs and market dynamics and the ability to balance global corporate priorities with regional expectations and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, Finance, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in sustainability, ESG, environmental management, strategy, regulatory affairs, consulting, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing sustainability programs within a multinational industrial, manufacturing, transportation, infrastructure, or technology organization.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks and regulations, including CSRD, ESRS, EU Taxonomy, GRI
