Gunnebo Entrance Control is small enough to see your ideas come to fruition, and big enough to realise your career goals.Role Overview Within the Gunnebo Entrance Control, the role of the Projects Engineering Department is to design and develop new products or customize the existing ones, mainly but not only for Mass Transit projects like Airports, Metro, Railways, Bus systems and Automatic Door.The Projects Engineering Department works very closely with Business Development and receives the inputs (requirements and targets) by the project managersWorking as part of the Projects Engineering team, the Firmware Engineer will contribute to the overall design & development of product-based firmware & software and designing simple electronic circuits and PCBs for control and lighting systems.This role involves close collaboration with mechanical and electrical design teams to integrate hardware and software solutions into innovative products.He will develop and maintain software for controlling gate operation and fraud detection.Our candidate should have a professional level of Italian, preferably native speakers, a professional level of English and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar type of industry. Availability for short business trips a few times a year, inside and outside Europe.Responsibilities Develop software for bespoke hardware platforms for a range of time-critical Gunnebo productsAnalysis and conversion of high-level requirements into software solutionsCreating and compiling technical documents including state diagrams and functional specificationsIntegrating various communication and software technologies on to Gunnebo hardware platformsDevelopment of tools to support software system testing and software product development, as requiredDeveloping test and validation proceduresCompleting unit and system testingCreate electrical schematics and PCBs for control and lighting circuits (e.g., LED drivers, sensors).Other duties as required.Requirements Experience :Proficiency in C for bare-metal STM32 firmware (HAL, interrupts, peripherals), with willingness to learn other languages when required.Ability to understand products from both a system and a low-level viewpointSystem integration skills including testing and validationKnowledge of automation devices (motors, drivers, actuators, sensors …)Documentation skillsKnowledge / Education:University degree of Mechatronics Engineering/Information Engineering and Computer Science or similar technical DiplomaProfessional Italian & very good English in writing and speaking requiredVisual Studio, STM32CubeIDE,CCommunications protocols, e.g. RS232, RS485, ModBus.Proficiency in PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad).Ability to use measurement instruments (oscilloscope, multimeter).Other Skills:Able to work both individually and as part of a teamUsed to work structured and organizedRelates well to people at all levelsLike to work in international environment and virtual teamsAble to work effectively under pressure, quickly reacting to sudden change of priorities and deadlines or new tasksAbout us The Gunnebo Group is a global leader in security, offering innovative products and services to protect and control the flow of people, and to safely secure valuables.
