MO is building a best‑in‑class engineering and operations team that will own the day‑to‑day operations for AWS Regions; improving the availability, reliability, latency, performance and efficiency of operating AWS regions.The AWS Managed Operations Data Science (MODS) Team is looking for a Data Scientist to lead research and thought leadership that drives our data and insight strategy for AWS. You will serve as a Full‑Stack Data Scientist, responsible for the end‑to‑end data science lifecycle—data exploration, ETL, model development and data visualization—using tools such as Spark, Airflow, Hugging Face, and other machine‑learning frameworks. Your analytical research will inform AWS’ Operations and Site Reliability Engineering teams on technology strategy and operational performance.Key Job ResponsibilitiesWork with large and complex data sets to solve a wide array of challenging problems using different analytical approaches.Develop ML/AI models and partner with software teams to productionalize these models.Design and implement data pipelines and infrastructure.Define and develop advanced, customized metrics and KPIs that capture the nuances of the organization’s strategic objectives and operational complexities; continuously monitor and evaluate performance of metrics.QualificationsBasic Qualifications3+ years of data scientist experience.3+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, MATLAB).3+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling, data analysis tools, and techniques, and knowledge of statistical measures such as confidence intervals and significance of error measurements.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning or equivalent quantitative field, or Master’s degree and 4+ years of data scientist experience.Preferred Qualifications6+ years of data scientist experience.4+ years of experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, data mining, and analytics techniques.Experience with data scripting languages (SQL, Python, R) or statistical/mathematical software (R, SAS, MATLAB).Experience with clustered data processing (Hadoop, Spark, Map‑Reduce, Hive).Experience in an ML or data scientist role with a large technology company.Data Scientist II, MODS is open to U.S. citizens only.Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. Base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year in the lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in the highest. Pay is based on market location and may vary based on experience.
