Senior Power Electronics Engineer, Amazon Leo Power Team Senior Power Electronics Engineer – Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC. Job Overview This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging role focused on designing power electronics for Amazon Leo satellites. Designers must meet stringent efficiency, size, mass, thermal and reliability requirements while surviving demanding environments. Key Responsibilities Lead new‑product development and serve as subject‑matter expert in DC‑DC power conversion and related components. Own efficiency, mass and cost models for power electronics and investigate topologies to optimize system performance. Design power electronics prototypes – component selection, schematic capture and PCB layout. Drive designs through PCBA manufacturing and assembly; conduct board bring‑up, testing, verification and implement solutions to design issues. Collaborate cross‑team to define architecture, requirements and deliver high‑performance, high‑quality designs for multiple satellite subsystems. Work closely with power, solar array, battery, mechanical, thermal, sensors, actuators and antenna teams to iterate on design and provide optimal solutions. Export Control Requirement Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible immigrant, as required by applicable export control laws. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. 5+ years of experience designing, testing and debugging switching DC‑DC power supplies – component selection, schematic capture and layout. 3+ years of experience in full product life cycles – concept to production. Strong lab measurement, troubleshooting and debugging skills. Experience analyzing converter stability, designing control feedback and compensation networks. Preferred Qualifications Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering focused on power electronics. Design experience for high‑current, low‑voltage point‑of‑load DC‑DC converters (communications, consumer electronics, data‑center). Familiarity with isolated topologies such as resonant, flyback and forward converters. Expertise in magnetic design for high‑frequency applications and soft‑switching techniques. Deep understanding of current‑sharing and multi‑phase topologies. Experience with embedded microprocessors or microcontrollers. Proven ability to develop high‑efficiency DC‑DC converters from concept to production. Excellent cross‑functional communication and ability to evangelize ideas effectively. Passion for power, performance and cost optimization.
