Part‑time faculty benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, long‑term disability, and paid sick leave.Anticipated Start Date: Upon hire, based on department need.Continuation: Position contingent upon grant‑funding.Department OverviewThe Adult Basic & Secondary Education Department seeks to expand its pool of part‑time faculty to teach Basic Skills Development, GED Preparation, and/or College Preparation. Instructors must demonstrate a passion for teaching, support student success, and follow Division and College procedures.This is an application pool posting for 2026–2027, starting in Spring 2026. Positions may be available at the following Lane locations: Main Campus, Downtown Campus, Cottage Grove, Florence, Springfield, or corrections environments; primary location will be at Main and Downtown Campuses in Eugene.Search InformationFirst review date of applications may be as early as 10 business days after posting. Official transcripts will be required within 30 days for selected candidates.QualificationsEducation: Master’s degree in Education, Teaching, Adult Education, TESOL/TEFL, Special Education, or related field AND either of the following:Minimum 24 undergraduate or graduate credit hours in mathematics.A teaching license with an endorsement in a mathematics‑related area.Experience: Two years of secondary, special education, or adult education instruction of basic skills or life skills.One year teaching basic math or life‑skills math OR two years teaching developmental level math.Professional development in Oregon Adult College and Career Readiness Standards and use of CASAS data within 90 days of hire.Successful applicants must pass a criminal background check.Must be Oregon residents at the time of employment.Preferred Education: Completion of Oregon Adult College & Career Readiness Standards orientation and training modules.Preferred Experience: Recent (last 5 years) teaching adults in a community college setting; experience with learning disabilities, family or workplace literacy, multi‑level instruction, or coordinating with community agencies.ResponsibilitiesTeach Adult Basic Education, GED, and College Preparation mathematics classes to students aged 16 and older.Develop, implement, and assess course curricula in line with Oregon Adult College and Career Readiness Standards.Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation; ensure FERPA compliance.Manage classroom and online environments, including technology use and ADA accessibility.Engage students through online interaction to ensure regular and substantive engagement.Provide timely feedback, coaching, and support to students.Participate in faculty performance evaluation and professional development.Assist in curriculum alignment across program and department, fulfilling assessment and accreditation requirements.Contribute to an inclusive, respectful learning environment, addressing multicultural and diversity issues.Support student access to campus resources and employment opportunities.Division FunctionsPlan lessons and implement instruction appropriate for adult learners and the OACCRS.Co‑develop curriculum and align instruction with state and federal guidelines.Implement delivery methods (directed study, distance learning, tutoring, etc.) tailored to multi‑level classes.Provide intake, orientation, placement, and progress assessment for students.Maintain student registration, attendance, and assessment records; submit required reports.Equity and InclusionDemonstrate commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural competence in all interactions.Support ADA compliance and provide necessary accommodations.Promote respectful and inclusive communication regardless of personal attributes.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAnalytical thinking, building relationships, change advocacy, teamwork, service mindset, process improvement.Adult learning theory, instructional design, delivery methods, assessment systems.Use of technology and online instruction; ADA compliance awareness.Physical Demands / Working EnvironmentPosition requires indoor work conditions with usual office noise.
