In-House International Legal Counsel – Cross-Border Matters

We are seeking an experienced In-House International Legal Counsel to provide direct legal support and act as the central point of coordination for complex legal matters across multiple jurisdictions.

The role will have a particular focus on Italy, the United States and the United Kingdom, while also coordinating matters involving other international jurisdictions when required.

The successful candidate will work closely with management and coordinate with established external law firms and specialist counsel, ensuring that legal matters, documentation and sensitive information are managed efficiently and consistently across jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary internal point of contact for external legal counsel and international law firms.
• Coordinate legal matters involving Italy, the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as other jurisdictions when required.
• Coordinate litigation, corporate, contractual, property, private-client and other cross-border legal matters.
• Review contracts, agreements, legal correspondence and corporate documentation.
• Maintain oversight of ongoing legal matters, deadlines, documentation and external counsel instructions.
• Ensure effective coordination and timely information sharing between external lawyers operating across different jurisdictions.
• Prepare concise and practical legal briefings for management.
• Identify legal developments or sensitive information that may have security, reputational or operational implications and ensure that such matters are promptly escalated to the appropriate stakeholders.
• Liaise with security and risk-management professionals when legal matters may have implications for personal, family, property or corporate security.
• Maintain appropriate procedures for handling confidential and legally privileged information.
• Support management in the selection, instruction and coordination of external specialist counsel when required.
• Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, discretion and professional integrity.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should have:

• A Law degree from a recognized university.
• Strong academic and/or professional experience in international and cross-border law.
• Strong knowledge of the U.S. and UK legal systems.
• Familiarity with the Italian legal system.
• Experience working within an international law firm, multinational organization, family office, private office or similarly complex cross-border environment.
• Demonstrable experience coordinating multiple external counsel across different jurisdictions.
• Strong understanding of confidentiality, legal privilege and sensitive-information management.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Professional proficiency in Italian.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and communicate directly with senior decision-makers.
• Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive matters with discretion.

Qualification or admission to practice in Italy, England & Wales, the United States or another relevant jurisdiction will be considered a significant advantage.

Location & Mobility

The position is primarily based in the Lazio region and will operate on a hybrid basis.

The successful candidate must be available to travel within Italy and internationally when required.
