About the Role
We are looking for a scientifically credible, externally focused Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Oncology to strengthen our Medical Affairs presence across North-West Italy.
This is a field-based role for an experienced Medical Affairs professional who can build trusted, peer-to-peer relationships with oncology specialists, deliver high-quality non-promotional scientific exchange and translate global Medical Affairs strategy into meaningful local activity.
With a primary focus on oncology and oncology supportive care, you will support priority assets throughout the pre-launch, launch and post-launch stages. You will help identify unmet medical needs, evidence gaps and barriers along the patient pathway, ensuring that field insights inform our medical strategy, evidence-generation priorities and access readiness.
The role is particularly relevant to gynaecological oncology and offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of a growing oncology portfolio within an entrepreneurial speciality pharmaceutical business.
You will work closely with Global Medical Affairs, the General Manager for Southern Europe, Market Access/HEOR, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs and other cross-functional colleagues, while maintaining the independence and scientific integrity of Medical Affairs.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Build scientific credibility and external relationships: Develop trusted peer-to-peer relationships with priority oncologists, investigators, hospital pharmacists, specialist nurses, pathologists and other relevant healthcare professionals across North West Italy.
- Deliver high-quality scientific exchange: Communicate complex clinical data accurately, objectively, and in a balanced, non-promotional manner, and respond to unsolicited scientific questions through approved processes.
- Execute the Medical Affairs strategy locally: Translate global medical priorities into a focused territory plan, delivering agreed-upon activities and milestones across the pre-launch, launch, and post-launch phases.
- Support launch and access readiness: Prepare relevant stakeholders through scientific engagement, stakeholder mapping, congress activities, advisory boards, medical education and internal readiness initiatives.
- Generate actionable medical insights: Identify and communicate emerging clinical practice trends, unmet medical needs, evidence gaps, access barriers and changes in patient pathways to inform medical strategy and cross-functional decisions.
- Identify patient-pathway challenges: Understand practical barriers to patient identification, diagnosis, biomarker testing, referral, treatment and supportive care, including local diagnostic and laboratory capabilities.
- Contribute to Italian access activities by providing accurate clinical and scientific input to support AIFA evaluation processes and regional and hospital access decisions, including oncology networks, formularies, and clinical pathways, within agreed functional boundaries.
- Support evidence generation and research: Identify opportunities for real-world evidence, registries, investigator-initiated research, Phase IV studies and other appropriate scientific collaborations.
- Partner with Clinical Development: Contribute to investigator and site identification, study feasibility, recruitment insights, patient-journey considerations and communication of approved study results.
- Engage with scientific societies and expert networks: Build appropriate relationships with national and regional experts, oncology societies and cooperative groups, including AIOM and MITO
