Lippert started its activities in Europe in 2016 acquiring some of the most successful companies in the Recreational Vehicle sector, followed by companies from the Railway and Marine sector. The RV and Railway divisions find their headquarters in the heart of Tuscany, Italy. Here, in addition to the production facilities and administrative offices, is the central commercial division that coordinates the European offices in the caravanning sector, including the Dutch brand Polyplastic (2020) and the German brand Schaudt (2021).
Lippert RV manufactures components and accessories for the original equipment of recreational vehicles and the aftermarket directly in Europe, such as: slide-out systems; pop-up roofs for vans; vinyl, aluminium and frameless windows; bike racks for motorhomes and vans; height adjustable bed systems; electric and manual access steps; entrance and storage doors; table legs; window shades and flyscreens; TV brackets; boosters and battery chargers.
Lippert Railway produces glass windows and interior furniture for trains with a focus on high quality products and research of innovative solutions, offering their products to vehicle owners, operators, manufacturers and refurbishers, industry subcontractors and authorities and organizations.
Lippert Marine, with its brand Lewmar, presents to its customers a portfolio of hardware, winches, hydraulics, windlasses, anchors, thrusters, steering systems, hatches and portlights to suit every boat from the smallest day fisher to largest mega-yacht.
LEGAL SPECIALIST
Objective
Reporting directly to the General Counsel - EMEA, the Legal Specialist will collaborate with various stakeholders across the company to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation for Lippert's operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The Legal Specialist will be responsible for providing strategic Legal Specialist and guidance to the EMEA business teams on legal compliance matters and complex commercial transactions. He/she must be highly skilled in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of international commercial contracts, preferably within the manufacturing industry, and be familiar with key compliance regulations affecting an international manufacturing company.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Negotiate, review, draft and provide advice on all manner of international commercial contracts, other transactional agreements and company documents, including, for example, customer and supplier agreements, procurement contracts, distribution agreements, joint development agreements, services agreements, marketing and sponsorship contracts, non-disclosure agreements and standard terms and conditions.
- Identify and assess risks in transactions and contracts and propose alternative structures and terms to mitigate such risks.
- Analyze company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible compliance risks and issues.
- Assist in the review and development of company policies, procedures, guidelines, standards and other practices to ensure compliance with legal regulations and internal policies.
- Provide strategic counseling and practical guidance in support of EMEA business objectives.
- Keep abreast of legislative changes and industry practices that may affect the company and its affiliates.
- Provide assistance on various legal affairs and undertaking other duties reasonable and consistent with the position and as needed.
- Strong drafting, negotiating and communication skills, including ability to communicate complex topics effectively with business teams.
- High degree of comfort managing through significant ambiguity and complexity.
- Ability to handle multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment to ensure the accurate completion and timely execution of business initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to deliver practical, understandable and actionable legal advice to internal business clients with a sensitivity to cultural and legal differences that impact the practice of law and operation of business in varied jurisdictions.
- A high degree of self-sufficiency and independent judgment coupled with sound judgment regarding proper escalation of issues.
- A business-oriented approach to problem solving, tempered by an appreciation for legal complexity and risk.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
- Ability to work effectively in teams and collaboratively throughout a large and geographically diverse company.
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct; commitment to team and company core values.
- Required education and/or license to practice law in Italy.
- 5+ years of experience with a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal department, handling commercial, transactional and business law matters in multiple EMEA jurisdictions.
- Fluency in both English and Italian is required.
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities upon hiring but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions within the EMEA organization.
