Job Description

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

Lead and manage engineering operations for manufacturing operations in Pisa plant. Provide holistic engineering and maintenance support to the site to sustainably achieve capacity plans and fulfillment targets. Maintain equipment and facilities, performing facilities management including operations of utilities and critical systems, providing engineering technical support and capital planning and execution.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Responsible for performance management and professional development of direct reports.
  2. Accountable for performance management and professional development of engineering personnel.
  3. Allocates resources, assigns priority to tasks and acts as an advisor to Site senior management in the delivery of value-added services for Pisa Site.
  4. Manages budgets and contract resources.
  5. Provides management oversight to ensure that Facilities, Utilities and Equipment are properly maintained, fit for intended use, operated in a safe and efficient manner, and are compliant with all regulatory requirements.
  6. Provides management oversight of delivery of coordinated major maintenance activities including scheduled plant shutdowns. Ensure organizational agility in order for timely response and resolution to operational issues.
  7. Accountable for development of technical subject matter expertise and provision of adequate engineering resources (internally and externally) to ensure system reliability, robustness and maximum availability.
  8. Ensures delivery of compliant and robust engineered solutions to improve reliability and efficiency of systems and equipment based upon best practices and operational periodic reviews.
  9. Supports the planning and execution of site capital investment projects to ensure that projects are on time and on budget.
  10. Supports and control the site CAPEX and equipment lifecycle.
  11. The position has the role of "Dirigente/Executive for Safety Aspects according to the legislation Italian art. 2 paragraph 1 letter d) of Legislative Decree 81/08.

  8. Oversee lifecycle management of facilities, equipment, and assets while ensuring Good Engineering Practices and compliance with environmental health and safety (EHS) requirements.

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  1. Manages technical records and diagrams.
  2. Manages relationships with technical third parties such as equipment suppliers, directly handling service requests and agreements.
  3. Promotes and leads the exchange of technical knowledge within and outside the site.

  1. Ensures the technical competence of process engineers and technicians through the adoption of high standards, efficient methodologies, a data-centric approach, and a dedication to fundamental engineering principles.
  2. Provides strategic oversights and acts as an advisor or trainer to subordinate manager or staff members.
  3. Create an environment that inspires and enables people to move organization forward.

  1. Acts as an industry expert for the site within the global network.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  1. Master degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, electronic, industrial, automation, etc…)
  2. In depth technical proficiency on pharmaceutical systems and equipment.
  3. Good knowledge of cGMPs and pharma/HSE rules and standards.
  4. 10+ years experience in pharmaceutical Company with specific focus on process, maintenance, technical support, process/equipment development.
  5. Fluent in English.
  6. Exceptional ability to manage simultaneous activities, competing priorities, and challenges.
  7. Leadership / influence.
  8. In-depth knowledge of the sterile production process and equipment.
  9. Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with the team and peers within a manufacturing and engineering organization. This includes excellent communication skills: written and verbal.
  10. Prioritization project management skills.
  11. High-level problem-solving / root cause investigation skills.
  12. Creative capacity for developing new ways to do things better, cheaper, faster.
