Job Description Summary
At Avio Aero, a GE Aviation Business unit, we've been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years. We are specialized in the design, production, and maintenance of components and systems for both the civil and military aviation.
Avio Aero Advanced Technology Operations is looking for a talented engineer to join our Fluid and Thermal System Design team.
Innovative engines architectures require a step forward in terms of thermal management capabilities. The introduction of hybrid electric configurations and high-power extraction demand is leading to the need for additional technology development and different thermal design approaches to the whole system.

Job Description
Essential Responsibilities

  1. Contribute actively to studies and calculations devoted to get the best detailed thermal and fluid-dynamic secondary system design of new generation aero engines. Targets, in terms of cycle efficiency, weight, and cost, are continuously raising and need great efforts to assure required goals.
  2. Collect and give feedback to partner/customer; improving the level of details of the "thermal & secondary flows" analytical assessment could impact on ability to reduce the design margins with a possible beneficial impact on product cost, life, performance, and maintenance.
  3. Act proactively to study the most promising thermal & cooling technologies to be introduced in the next gen engines.
  4. Work within the team to define the Secondary Systems and Thermal Design validation process path.
  5. Prepare the request for the experimental validation and analyze experimental and fielded engines' data to improve design practices and rules.
  6. Proactively support and coordinate activities with GEA global team to implement design corrective actions and product improvements.
  7. Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  8. Interface with the Avio Aero/GEA research network.
Qualifications/Requirements
  1. Master Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university.
  2. Previous experience in the development of aerospace or industrial products.
  3. Knowledge of key aeronautical engines layout and architecture.
  4. Fluency in English and Italian languages, both written and oral.
  5. Experience with FEM tools (i.e., Patran, Hypermesh).
  6. Good knowledge of 1D fluid network solvers (i.e., Flowmaster).
  7. Good knowledge of Windows-based tools.
  8. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  9. Ability to work successfully in a global team environment.
  10. Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required.

  1. Knowledge and experience in CFD tools/numerical modeling.
  2. Basic experience in CAD tools.
  3. Capability to work autonomously.
  4. Passionate, curious, and enthusiastic for engineering challenges.
