Systems Engineer

The aim is to define technical guidelines and requirements, identify preferred changes/updates to existing standards, and influence the direction of emerging standards to maximize alignment with company products and strategic direction.As a result of those, the candidate is expected to develop technical contributions, give high quality presentations of them in organizations such as SAE International, ISO, IEEE, AVCC, and 5GAA, work to obtain consensus, proactively promote Qualcomm technologies, and protect Qualcomm's interest in the emerging areas.Regular attendance to some of the aforementioned organizations is a likely part of the job. Consequently, the candidate is expected to be available to travel frequently for week-long meetings (on average, 6 to 8 week-long meetings per year are to be expected, including both domestic and international destinations as determined by the specific organization).The candidate will operate in collaboration with different groups and colleagues within the company, including those affiliated with research, engineering/development, products, business, and government affairs. The candidate will work in an exciting environment with a team of some of the brightest systems engineers in the industry and will have frequent interaction with other engineering disciplines.Minimum Qualifications:•
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience. ORMaster's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience. ORPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience. *Global travel several times per year for standards organization forums.SKILLS/EXPERIENCE- Strong expertise in ADAS/ADS technologies- Experience in automotive standards- Solid knowledge of cybersecurity and AI- A good understanding of end-to-end system design- A good understanding of key business concepts and being able to relate this to various business strategies for both Qualcomm and others in the industryADDITIONAL SKILLS- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills is required.- Candidate should highlight any experience as an editor, rapporteur or chair of standards bodies.- Ability to work independently.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSPhD, Master or equivalent mix of education and experience, in a field related to engineering or wireless communications.*References to a particular number of years experience are for indicative purposes only.
