Job Description SummaryAt Avio Aero, a GE Aviation Business unit, we’ve been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years. We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for both the civil and military aviation. As General Machining & Farmout (GM&F) Commodity Buyer you will report directly to Commodity Leader, managing the buying process for a given set of direct Suppliers across Avio Aero operations. In this role you will apply sourcing policy, interface between suppliers and requestors with respect to specifications and budget. This role requires from you understanding of concepts, methods and procedures to enable sourcing execution.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesManage the sourcing process, from evaluation of requestor’s requirements to PO placementBe responsible for best efficiency for procured goods and services, balanced against optimum quality and schedule needsEvaluate current requirements, determine potential sources, prepare tendersSolicit and evaluate proposalsApply cost and price analysis techniques, using available expertise from supporting organizationsNegotiate PO and/or purchase contracts, following applicable company and government regulationsBalance both tactical execution with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost reduction projectsCoordinate procurement of assigned commodities to meet the requirements of GEMaintain the highest level of integrity and ethics in all dealings with supply base and internal customersQualifications/RequirementsDegree from accredited University (Engineering preferred), or High School Technical Diploma with significant experience in similar roleProven cost savings procurement actionsProven analytical and problem solving skills, with sound judgment and a diplomatic attitudeAbility to communicate effectively in oral and written formAbility to handle several activities simultaneously, manage multiple priorities and resolve appropriatelyProfessional working knowledge of SAP MRP software systemFamiliarity with GD&TProficient in MS Office (e.g. Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, Word)Highly motivated team memberProactivity, Customer orientation, initiative, autonomyFluent in Italian and English, both written and spokenWork Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is requiredDesired characteristicsKnowledge of current market conditions, pricing and sources of supplyAbility to handle issues around cost increases and how to mitigate themPositive working attitude and proven understanding of how to be an effective service provider within an organizationEffective problem identification and solution skillProactive, fast learner and curiousHigh team-working skillsWhat we offerSmart working and work life-balanceAvio Aero, when possible, promotes remote work and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.
