For a leading company in the food production sector, we are looking for a Purchasing Coordinator.Location: Rome

Il RuoloThe company is experiencing significant expansion, both in Italy and abroad, driven by continuous business growth and market-oriented strategies. Joining its team today means becoming part of a remarkable evolution process and having the opportunity to play a key role, actively contributing to this growth.In this context, the company wishes to further strengthen its Purchasing function with the recruitment of a Purchasing Officer, with the aim of contributing to setting up best-in-class methodologies in order to drive-up purchasing efficiency and best-practices. The Purchasing Officer will closely work with other key functions like Planning manager, Production manager and UPI managers. He/she will directly report to the Company’s Head of Production and R&DThe tasks of the future Purchasing Officer will be:Direct Procurement (Raw Materials for Production):Oversee the procurement of raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and other items critical to the production process.Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring a reliable supply of materials.Negotiate favorable terms and prices with suppliers to ensure cost efficiency without compromising quality.Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and ensure timely procurement to meet production schedules.Coordinate with the production team to ensure that procurement meets production requirements.Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and opportunities for cost savings.Indirect Procurement (Services and Operational Goods):Manage procurement for non-production related goods and services, including office supplies, maintenance services, IT equipment, machines spare parts and other maintenance materials and utilities.Source suppliers for various indirect categories, negotiate terms, and ensure timely delivery.Maintain records of all purchases, contracts, and supplier performance.Monitor and manage vendor performance to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.General Responsibilities:Process purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner.Collaborate with finance and accounting departments to ensure purchase orders are aligned with the budget and within financial constraints.Handle and resolve procurement-related issues such as delivery delays or quality concerns.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the food industry’s supply chain trends and best practices.Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to drive cost savings, efficiency, and quality improvements.Ensure compliance with company policies, standards, and industry regulations.

I RequisitiThe candidate will therefore have the following skills and abilities:SkillsHave successful previous experience as Purchasing Officer in complete autonomy, within a SME or a larger company, preferably within the food sector

He/she will be graduated from a university degree specializing in economics Skills in supply chain/procurement considered a plusBe a self-starter, capable of working as part of a team, and doing things by him/herself when requiredProblem-solverHave excellent communication and social skillsBe fluent in English Mindset Have the willingness, capacity and required commitment to work in a SME/family driven environmentBe proactive, convincing, tenacious, pragmatic, organized and rigorous
