Position Summary Columbia University Press, a premier academic publisher, supports the mission of Columbia University by publishing important scholarly works. The Press is currently seeking a Data Manager to administer and maintain its technical architecture. As a member of the Digital Strategy team and reporting to the Director of Sales and the Chief Operating Officer, the Data Manager will be responsible for overseeing the technical infrastructure of the Press. The ideal candidate should possess excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills, and be capable of working efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities Oversee the press-wide bibliographic database (Biblio3 by Virtusales); responsibilities include building workflow processes in cooperation with departmental managers, managing the press's relationship with Virtusales, and providing regular staff training. Collaborate with the Assistant Finance Manager to maintain the Press's accounting system and software (Acumen by Bista). Provide technical support to staff for database-related issues. Create and disseminate the press's ONIX book data feed. Set standards and work with all members of the Press to improve data integrity. Manage data-related projects across sales, marketing, finance, development, and administration departments. Collect and analyze e-book sales statistics and usage reports. Oversee data-related projects linking the Press's books database with the accounting and royalty databases. Advise on Press-wide data collection and storage strategies. Work with all departments to enhance organizational methods for Press record-keeping, electronic file storage, and file sharing. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required and 4-6 years of publishing experience preferably with a university press, with demonstrated knowledge of publishing processes. 5 years of experience working with Bilblio3. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree. Familiarity with ONIX. Experience with BISAC, Thema, and MARC. Understanding of XML workflow for book publishing systems. Understanding of publishing accounting and royalty systems. Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran
