Lead Technical Engineer

SMS group is looking for a Lead Technical Engineer for our Center of Excellence "Long Products". The Lead Technical Engineer will act as the primary technical reference for a specific type of steel plant, supporting projects from the pre-sales phase through to the completion of commissioning. Provide technical support during the pre-sales phase, including customer requirements analysis, solution definition, and preparation of technical sales documentation. Collaborate with the Engineering department to define specifications, layouts, and plant solutions. Offer internal technical consultancy to design, manufacturing, supply chain, and commissioning teams. Serve as the main technical point of contact for the customer throughout project execution, addressing technical queries and clarifications. Collect technical feedback from projects to improve future standards and solutions. Lead the commissioning on field of the specific equipment under his responsibility In-depth knowledge of production processes and technologies in the steel industry, with specific expertise in the operation of plants to produce long products (Bars and wire rod). Goal oriented mindset, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage change effectively Basic knowledge of electrical engineering Excellent command of the English language (Written and spoken) Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of technical-industrial experience, preferably in the steel industry. Willingness to travel internationally Work on construction site worldwide for the duration of the commissioning of the equipment under his responsibility.
