Telespazio - E2E Space System engineering per Ground SegmentJob Description:Telespazio is a joint venture between Leonardo (67%) and Thales (33%) and one of the world's biggest suppliers of satellite solutions and services.
The company teams up with Thales Alenia Space to form the parent companies' Space Alliance, a strategic partnership which offers a complete range of space services.Founded in Italy in 1961, Telespazio is based in Rome and counts more than 3000 employees through its various subsidiaries and joint ventures.Highlights of the role:He/she will be involved in new space missions domain such as In Orbit Services.He/she will be responsible for E2E System or Ground Segment engineering in missions where Telespazio is either Prime Contractor at System level or sub contractor at Ground Segment level.In the design phase, starting from input requirements he/she will define the E2E System or Ground segment decomposition, proposing requirement allocation to subsystem.
He/she will design state of the art System and Ground segment architectures, taking into account reuse/upgrading of existing components or new development.
He/she will be in charge of performing system budget and trade off analysis.
He/she will perform mission analysis and define the mission Operational Concepts in collaboration with the Operational experts.
During the development phase, he/she will support or directly coordinate the development activities of the system and/or subsystems.
During the AIT phase he/she will be in charge of supporting the AIV activities of the System or Ground Segment and its sub-systems.
He/She will also be part of the integrated AIV team for the execution of the integration, verification and validation test campaigns.Activities/Responsibilities:Input Requirements AnalysisSystem and Subsystem Interface definition and verificationSystem Performance Analysis and design justification dossierQualification and acceptance strategy definitionSystem, Ground Segment and Sub-systems development supervisionMission analysis and Concept of Operations definitionContribution to In Orbit Plan, Nominal Operations Plan and Maintenance Plan definitionContribution to AIV team for the execution of the integration, verification and validation test campaignsQualifications / Experience:Master's degree or comparable in Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering, or equivalent qualification, preferably in engineering or Remote SensingAt least 3 years of relevant experienceEssential Skills:Experience in new space missions domains such as In Orbit ServicesGround Segment engineering, design, analysis and trade offExperience in mission analysisSystem Engineering methodologies and tools for system functional analysis, including requirement and interfaces managementKnowledge of system engineering processes, and system and software life-cycles and standardsGood English knowledgeDesirable Skills:Experience in new Space Mission domains such as In Orbit Services (especially for System or Ground Segments engineering)Experience in Ground Segment sub-systems engineering, design, analysis and trade offExperience in software development from design to the implementation and testsExperience in Ground Segment and sub-system development, qualification and acceptanceExperience using Project tracking and Management toolsQualities:Strong focus on reaching progress by thinking and communicating in terms of solutions, and the ability of reaching goals under schedule pressureExcellent communication skill, with strong written and oral communication skillsAbility to work in international and multi-disciplinary teams.
