The Product Development & Engineering unit within SKF Technology, with our office located in Villar Perosa, has the responsibility to support the SuPB factories located in Italy (currently Villar Perosa and Pianezza and then the new factory in Airasca) as well as leading Product Development Process activities transforming customer needs into drawings and specifications.
As Product Development Engineer within the Product Development & Engineering team in Villar Perosa, you will be a part of a team that works closely with both the SuPB factories, thus offering an interesting opportunity to fully experience how product specifications are impacting the manufacturing process, as well as with Business development, Sales and Customers participating in development projects that provide solutions for applications where precision engineering dictate the needs and performances are pushed to the limits.
Being in this exciting and central role and working with different stakeholders, creates the need to handle a multitude of different tasks: our way of responding to this is to design systems/processes or automations that are tailored for our needs and allowing to deliver the best quality with less possible effort. As we say: "if you have to do it more than twice, then it's time to automate it".
As a Product Development & Engineering team we have daily contact with PD&E offices, factories and people in SKF from all over the world and work in close cooperation with the European Research and Technology Development Center (RTD) in the Netherlands.
What we are looking for
We seek someone who can effectively convert stakeholders' inputs and requests into comprehensive technical documents and specifications. This role involves a variety of tasks based on different needs, such as assisting the Factory Quality & Process Department in digitalizing tolerances and specifications on the channel, developing and testing design rules for new product ranges, creating specific products based on customer demands, and understanding factory needs to deliver valuable outputs without getting bogged down by bureaucratic procedures.
In addition, we expect you to have: University degree in Engineering;Very good understanding of basic engineering principles, bearings & rotating systems;Very good understanding of technical drawing rules and principles;Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Windchill, CREO Parametric;Knowledge of ANSYS (including optiSLang), Python programming language, will be considered as a plus;Proactivity in taking the lead with global problem solving attitude;Proactivity in looking for new ways of working without passively accepting existing solutions;Proficiency in English verbal and written, as well as Italian;Open to travel if needed;At SKF we are committed to creating a diverse environment, and we firmly believe that a diverse workforce is essential for our continued success. The location for this position is Villar Perosa (Italy), on local contract. It does however require that you are able and willing to travel.
You will report to the Product Development Manager Super Precision bearings, who is located in Villar Perosa.
