The Mission Analyst Engineer is responsible to prepare and take care of the Mission Analysis simulation and activities during the all the mission phases, in Deep Space and Earth scenarios. The position is part of the System Engineering team.
MA Engineer activities typically include, but are not limited to:
Trajectory analysis and orbit optimization prior to the mission launch, during the development stage of the projects and during the satellites' in-orbit operations, in support of the flight dynamics teamEarth, Lunar, Libration Point and Interplanetary Mission Analysis design and optimization according to the mission objective and constraintsDeltaV budget and manuevers strategy definitionDevelopment and application of different (basic and advanced) techniques for solving a variety of orbital mechanics and astrodynamics problemsDevelopment of engineering tools to support the Mission Analysis, including trajectory modelling and trajectory corrections for the real time operationsDevelop mission analysis capability utilising and developing new simulation and analysis toolsMission Analysis simulations and optimization according to the spacecraft's propulsion (chemical, low thrust and/or hybrid)Utilize numerical methods to analyze flight mechanics problems including numerical integration, root-solving problems, and coordinate transformationsOn orbit data analysis and debug support. Support to the development of contingency operations of the satellite, including preparation avoidance maneuvers, recovery of routine operations, safe mode supportTrajectory analysis, orbit optimization and corrective maneuvers assessment during the in-orbit phase of the projectsPerform Monte Carlo analysis to determine flight performance under various operating conditionsPerform navigation analysis with respect different mission scenariosFormally document the results of all the activities performedCoverage analysis for ground station activitiesDesign, analysis and optimization of Smallsat ConstellationGENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in Aerospace/Space Engineering3+ years of work experience in similar rolesHigh flexibility and team-working capabilityHands-on and proactive approach, willing to collaborate wherever is neededAbility to work with tight schedulesAbility to run analysis and write technical reportsVery good knowledge of Italian and English languagesREQUIRED EXPERIENCES & SKILLS
Advanced knowledge of the orbital mechanics principles, flight mechanics and trajectory modelling and simulation.Advanced knowledge of deep space and Earth environmentsAdvanced knowledge of GMAT and STK softwareKnowledge of Matlab and SimulinkKnowledge of Orbit Determination and Navigation techniquesKnowledge of spacecraft attitude dynamicsKnowledge of smallsats architectureADDITIONAL ASSETS
Knowledge of additional MA tools (i.e. MONTE, SPICE, COSMOGRAPHIA etc.)Familiar with Flight Dynamics duties and activitiesKnowledge of AOCS suiteExperience in spacecraft real-time operation/execution of AOCS manueversExperience of GNC algorithm design e.g. navigation filters, guidance strategies and/or controllersKnowledge of Phyton and C/C++Autonomous in-orbit rendezvous and navigation around small bodies (i.e. asteroids)Experience in writing technical proposal for future business opportunity
