**NEX LP/SAFETY MANAGER (LEVEL I/II)**

Note: This is a progression job that requires documentation of successful completion of all predesignated training in order to qualify for a noncompetitive promotion to the NEX LP/Safety Manager (Level II), NF4 (4B).
The incumbent may not progress to the next level prior to having served a minimum of 12 months in this position.
Job Summary: LP/Safety Manager (Level II).
Under the general supervision of the District Loss Prevention/Safety Manager, performs all duties responsible for the management of the Loss Prevention/Safety Program for an assigned Navy Exchange and Navy Lodge Hospitality Program.
With expanded responsibilities and duties above those listed at the Loss Prevention Safety Manager (Progression Level I) NF3C level below.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Incumbent performs the following duties and responsibilities in a training/assistant capacity until
- Provides assistance with planning, developing, implementing and evaluating NEX Loss Prevention Programs, including but not limited to: safety, physical security, and operational review functions.
Discusses recommendations and modifications to programs, procedures, standards, and techniques on all matters involving loss prevention, asset protection and safety to improve efficiency and effectiveness with designated supervisor; may assist with implementation of proposed changes provided successful completion of related training validates completed training qualifies incumbent to assist with implementing accepted proposed changes.
- Observes management conduct investigations regarding internal and external theft, suspicious and unethical conduct, accidents, workplace violence, fraud, waste and/or abuse.
- Assists management with providing oversight on overnight surveillance activities, covert camera installations, investigations, and the interviews of associates, vendors and contractors suspected to unethical and/or fraudulent activities.
Reviews reports and results of investigations documented officially in accordance with departmental standards.
- May assist a collateral duty Safety Manager to observe and learn the responsibilities.
Assists with administering the Navy Occupational Safety and Health and Fire Prevention Program to ensure adherence with the safety provisions of applicable Department of Navy codes and standards.
Will ensure safety training, awareness programs, safety committees, and accident prevention programs are implemented in all locations as assigned.
- Assist with ensuring operational reviews are conducted monthly at each location.
Conduct and ensure operational audits are completed as required for cash offices, vending, safety and other areas as assigned.
Works closely with General Manager to correct deficiencies and increase compliance to requirements as applicable.
- Is educated on, and may assist store operations to develop and establish shrink committees and shrink action plans to identify causes of inventory shrink and execute appropriate internal control measures.
- Assist management with overseeing the physical security programs (CCTV, EAS, Alarms, and key control systems) to ensure strict enforcement of these programs.
- Participates and assists in fiscal year end store inventories to include; inventory preparation, taking, and the reconciliation process, and reports irregularities to the District Loss Prevention/Safety Manager, General/Store Manager or corporate as warranted.
- Through the successful completion of designated required training, learns a thorough understanding of business operations, LP/S standards and effectively uses web-based case management reporting systems and assist with ensuring Loss Prevention / Safety staff effectively utilizes software, e.g.
POS Exception based reporting tools and reports as required.
- Works under general supervision of the District Loss Prevention/Safety Manager that tracks, monitors and documents the successful completion of all predetermined training required for meeting qualification for noncompetitive promotion to designated NF4 position (PD#2680).
Assists with supporting all loss prevention /safety initiatives as assigned.
Work is reviewed for accuracy, technical adequacy, timeliness and conformance with plan policies and instructions provided.
Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a progression job that requires documentation of successful completion of all predesignated training in order to qualify for a noncompetitive promotion to the NEX LP/Safety Manager (Level II), NF4 (4B).
The incumbent may not progress to the next level prior to having served a minimum of 12 months in this position.
Incumbents of this position are required to obtain and maintain a secret DOD Security Clearance.
