Institute for Renewable Energy Short description of the position: We are looking for a motivated trainee with a background in software engineering or computer science. Ideally, the candidate has a focus on software development for front-end applications and is interested in creating user-friendly interfaces. During the internship, he/she will collaborate in an EU-funded project on climate change adaptation with the goal of developing an interface for a Decision Support System for sustainable water management. This will involve working closely with project partners and stakeholders to translate their needs and requirements into a functional and intuitive interface. In addition, the trainee will also have the possibility to conduct independent research (for example, for a master thesis), to gain experience in the field of software development, and to improve report writing and communication skills.
Tasks: Analysis, design, development and testing of components, libraries, APIs, dashboards, front-end applications,Design and creation of relational and non-relational database structures,Ownership over specific applications, including continuous improvement, performance monitoring, and support to internal and external stakeholders,Deployment, continuous integration, and scalability of applications.
Requirements: Background in STEM fields, including software engineering and/or computer science,Familiarity with user interfaces and user experience, and with different design patterns and software architecture paradigms, especially Webservices,Programming skills in languages such as Python and Javascript, preferably with knowledge of modern frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI and Vue.js,Knowledge of relational or non-relational databases, versioning control instruments such as GITLab, continuous integration and/or containerization is considered a plus,Good oral and written communication skills,Motivation to learn and capacity to work in group and with autonomy,Good command of English (reading, writing, and speaking), Italian or German are considered a plus,Presence in Eurac Research office is required for the internship periodWe offer: The opportunity to carry out an internship on innovative topics with the support of an international team of researchers,The possibility to carry out a master thesis within the internship,Internship conditions which allow professional growth and knowledge acquisition,Dedicated workspace with young, engaged colleagues,Flexible internship hours,Attractive living conditions in the middle of the Alps,Duration of the internship: 6 months.How to apply: Interested candidates should submit their application (CV, cover letter and further relevant documents) by 19.04.2024.
