Our headquarter hosts Europe's largest energy trading floor, complementing additional sites in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and America.
Our Sales Unit Commodity Solutions has a large and further growing customer base. Within Commodity Solutions the Commodity Flow Desk Global (CFD) provides wholesale market access to different client sectors. The CFD acts as a cross-commodity hub for external counterparties with relevant exposures in power, gas, emission certificates and derivative hedging products.
For the growth of our financial and physical downstream Sales Trading activities in Europe the CFD is looking to explore new OTC trading opportunities in close alignment with our existing Trading and Renewables activities. This will entail identification and onboarding of target clients, expansion of product offering tailored towards respective market needs in close alignment with the relevant internal stakeholders, origination and execution of client business and optimization of sourcing and risk positions. You will work closely with the Renewables team to leverage cross-selling opportunities with newly established Sales Trading contacts.
You become part of the CFD team which is responsible for physical and financial OTC transactions with third parties with a focus on power (green as well as grey), gas, oil, coal and green certificates (e.g., EUAs, GoOs and VERs).Sectors you will cover include energy companies, utilities, aggregators, energy-intensive industrials, transport companies, the public sector etc.Within the team you drive the EU growth initiative of the CFD. This means:You build and shape the new European business outside our well established core areas Germany and BeNeLux with a particular focus on France and Italy,You establish new and manage existing client relationships,You originate as well as execute transactions in these new markets,You establish and maintain relationships with trading partners on the up- and downstream side to support the Sales Trading business in the new markets,You manage your own CFD sales trading book incl. position management and management of fin./phys. risks as well as monitoring of risk limits,You are responsible for PnL generation with the newly established client relationships,You manage all relevant business processes in the new markets in alignment with the relevant internal stakeholders.You are responsible to drive and promote the new business activities internally with the preparation of commercial analyses and marketing material.As business contacts from Sales Trading can facilitate Commodity Solutions UK, North- & South-Europe's origination business in the UK and thus further expand the business with PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements) you will also need to monitor developments in the UK market design to find the best possible market entry time.You have a university degree in business management, renewable energy, engineering, project management or equivalent.You have profound experience in energy sales trading gained from previous work experience in the banking, utility and/or energy trading sector, preferably in Italy and/or France.You bring along a high level of understanding of the risk management and hedging approach of different customer sectors, incl. industrial customers, aggregators and the public sector, in energy commodities such as gas, certificates (GoOs, EUAs, VERs) and power (financially and physically).Project management would be an advantage as a high degree of structure and organization are required in this role.You have the ability to collaborate closely with colleagues from across the RWE group and multiple stakeholders to achieve goals and meet tight deadlines.You are a pro-active and motivated individual who displays a high level of initiative with a keen interest in building a business.You have excellent communication skills with the ability to transfer knowledge between analysis and decision makers in other departments with an interdisciplinary approach.You are fluent in either Italian or French with good English skills.
