A central role in JLR's transformation into a skills-based company and the continued development of Electrified Propulsion systems. This role will help shape the future company strategy by providing expert knowledge in the field of Powertrain Multi-body Simulation 9 (MBS) and analysis delivery.

As the MBS CAE Chapter Lead you will be responsible for the coaching, mentoring and career growth of a group of MBS analysts and their allocation to Agile product squads. You will ensure the successful validation of JLR Powertrain Units & Systems through the delivery of MBS analysis and virtual processes across Powertrain.

As part of your role you will ensure delivery processes, analysis methods and virtual engineering tools are best in class and formalised, facilitating knowledge sharing and consistent delivery. You'll have the opportunity to be involved in the development of future Powertrain commodities and will be influential in the development of Powertrain design across programmes. You will possess an excellent technical project delivery background, ability to develop and mentor individuals and teams and have a very strong understanding of CAE techniques and processes with particular focus on Electrified Propulsion Systems.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

* Provide mentoring, skills development and technical guidance to Chapter members.
* Directly support programme delivery through deployment of Chapter members within an Agile framework.
* Work with Product Owners in assessing resources and technical requirements needed within Product Squads.
* Actively raise quality and consistency of the virtual delivery process, including identification of best practise, process improvement, maintenance and documentation.
* Quality assure work delivered by Chapter members within Squads and ensure effective and consistent application on programmes.
* Build a community within the Chapter and MBS community to allow effective knowledge and process sharing, building strong connections with Chapter Leads and Technical experts across Engineering.
* Create Capability and Capacity roadmaps for current and future needs in support of JLR programme requirements (resource, skills & IT).
* Ensure data is communicated is a clear and consistent manner to allow a transparent virtual DVP status across all Powertrain programmes.
* Ensure all Technical issues and Impediments internal to the Chapter are communicated and escalated.
* Drive quality standards and ensure efficient use of MBS data (inputs, outputs, models) across JLR.
* Work with MBS Chapter members to facilitate inputs into an MBS Body of Knowledge to ensure consistent use of best-in-class standard tools and methods.
* Enable high performance and provide pastoral care to all Chapter members.
* Responsible for facilitating performance management for Chapter members, defining and implementing effective development plans and holding continuous improvement performance discussions.
* Establish and maintain a clear model correlation process and identify steps to improve Detection Event ratings, including links to physical testing and the Digital Twin process.
* Gather lessons learnt and feedback from Product Owners and Chapter Members.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Ability to develop and mentor a group of Engineers with a clear vision to drive towards a unified set of objectives.
* Experience in the delivery of complex CAE projects in an Automotive Engineering environment, including evidence of process improvement activities and execution of Quality Operating Systems.
* Evidence of consistent and repeatable deployment of problem-solving techniques and virtual methods
* Excellent knowledge of Multi-body techniques and the associated analysis delivery process.
* Excellent knowledge of automotive torque transfer path analysis, related error states and potential fixes.
* Excellent knowledge of Durability, Driveability, ORC and NVH attribute assessments related to powertrain Multi-body analysis.
* Knowledge of Powertrain Units & Systems design principles and attributes.
* Knowledge of programme delivery systems and lifecycles (e.g. PCDS framework).
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex ideas confidently, reporting technical and business information across all levels in the organisation.
* Good understanding of automotive industry, including competitor and market awareness.
* Degree or relevant equivalent experience.
* Experience operating inside an Agile framework is desirable.
