Offer Description High-quality working conditions in a dynamic environment. Working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team, the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to support EU policies and contribute to JRC's research agenda. The JRC encourages interactions with policy makers, academics, and other leading stakeholders active in the field, including participation in (international) conferences and workshops.
A position within the research project "EU Soil Observatory" (EUSO) on soil monitoring and big data analysis, specifically addressing the upgrade of the European Soil Data Centre (ESDAC) to comply with the requirements of the Soil Monitoring Law.
The successful candidate will engage in the following activities:
Coordinate and support the implementation of a multi-tier, integrated soil monitoring system addressing all soil health descriptors defined by the Soil Monitoring Law.
Integrate diverse data flows such as those coming from in-situ monitoring systems, current and future earth SENTINEL, citizen science, and modelling.
Support the establishment of a digital soil health data portal that will be compatible with the EU Data Strategy and the EU data spaces.
Build on and upgrade the existing elements of the EU Soil Observatory.
Ensure connectivity with and interoperability between data collected by the Member States and the Commission, as well as relevant outcomes resulting from HE's Soil Mission projects.
