LLE was established in 1970 as a center for the investigation of the interaction of intense radiation with matter.The Facility Operations Division is seeking a technician to help prepare and support the laser equipment.
A successful candidate will be challenged by the wide range of technologies used to conduct these experiments.ResponsibilitiesSupport the installation and operation of equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experiments.Troubleshoot optical, mechanical, and electrical issues and identify potential solutions.Perform preventative maintenance.Participate in the design and installation of new equipment.Handling of radiation materials – will be required to qualify as a NYS Radiation Safety Worker.Shift flexibility is required (Morning and Evening shifts).QualificationsAssociate's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field plus one-year experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Essential SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software operation.Ability to work in a cleanroom environment.Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
