parliamentarians, academia, research institutions, UN organizations and civil society.We drive a people-centred approach through technical support, capacity development, policy advice and inclusive dialogue.Within FAO, the FAO Indigenous Peoples Unit (PSUI) in PSU Division is the responsible Unit for the implementation of the FAO Policy on Indigenous Peoples, providing technical support and working with other technical units in headquarters and FAO Regional and Country Offices.PSUI main objectives are: (i) Implement the FAO Policy on Indigenous Peoples; (ii) Provide technical advice to other FAO technical units in integrating indigenous peoples into their work; (iii) Advocate, influence key policy processes and open spaces of dialogue between decision makers and indigenous peoples within FAO's mandate.The key functions of PSUI include: 1.Serving as Secretariat of: the Global Hub on Indigenous Peoples' Food Systems; the Coalition on Indigenous Peoples' Food Systems and the Rome Group of Friends of Indigenous Peoples.2.Leading work and developing narrative across UN on Indigenous Peoples' food and knowledge systems.3.Ensuring FAO's compliance with Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC); and coordinating the FPIC task force together with the European Union.4.Developing pilots in five different countries on Indigenous Biocentric Restoration with the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration.5.Leading global advocacy campaigns on Indigenous Women and Indigenous Youth.6.Releasing FAO policy briefs and FAO technical publications on Indigenous Peoples' Food Systems, Indigenous Women, Labelling, FPIC, Youth.7.Providing advice on technical, policy and advocacy matters related to Indigenous Peoples to FAO units, Member Nations, UN agencies and indigenous Collaboration Division, PSU, at FAO headquarters in Rome, ItalyReporting LinesThe Programme Officer (Indigenous Peoples) reports to the Senior Advocacy Officer, Head of the PSU Indigenous Peoples Unit, PSUI.Technical FocusEffective support of the development, implementation, monitoring and management of major programmes, projects and teams in accordance with the FAO Strategic Framework and Indigenous Peoples' programme of work with seven pillars and two thematic areas.Key ResultsSupport the implementation, monitoring, review and assessment of projects and programmes, operations and activities in assigned functional area(s).Key Functions• Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects, etc.• Monitors and analyses programme/project development and implementation.• Reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and track follow-up actions.• Assists in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of impact evaluation or equivalent studies, etc.• Prepares various written outputs, e.g.drafts background papers, analyses, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.• Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.• Coordinates activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.)and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.).Specific Functions• Identifies priority areas of action for PSUI in collaboration with the Head of Unit.• Supports the improvement of monitoring processes and tools in relation to FAO Strategy and PPAs.• Contributes to the development of FAO's narrative on Indigenous Peoples and food systems together with the Head of Unit.• Contributes to the dissemination and sharing of best practices and lessons learned in the area covered by PSUI for planning and knowledge building.• Oversees and monitors the drafting and implementation of letters of agreement and partnerships with different Indigenous organizations and partners under the oversight of the Head of Unit.• Supports the management of grievances from indigenous peoples with respect to FAO projects and programmes.• Supports with the liaising with other FAO Divisions/Offices/Centres and Decentralized Offices to provide assistance to indigenous peoples.• Acts as member of the Project Task Forces (PTF) for key projects involving indigenous peoples.• Supports the PSUI resource mobilization on indigenous peoples, writing projects and programmes for main donors.• Supports the creation of project posts in PSUI funded from voluntary contributions.• Supports with the day-to-day management and resource mobilization for the FAO Multi-donor Trust Fund for Indigenous Peoples.• Supports the Head of Unit with the overseeing of the two secretariats (Rome Group of Friends and Coalition).• Supports the work of the coordinator of the Global Hub and the FPIC coordinator.• Supports the drafting and updating of technical and advocacy documents related to FAO and Indigenous Peoples.• Coordinates operations including supporting budget revisions and operational activation and closure of projects as requested.• Supports the Head of Unit to plan and monitor PSUI Programme of Work and Budget cycle under the oversight of the Head of Unit.• Contributes to the PSUI Annual work plan and report of activities, which are to be aligned with FAO's Strategic Framework programmes.• Coordinates the drafting of the FAO annual report to UNDESA/UNPFII under the oversight of the Head of Unit.• Represents FAO, as necessary, at international workshops and seminars on indigenous peoples.• Performs other related duties as university degree in international relations, social sciences, economics, agricultural sciences or any other discipline relevant to the work of the Organization.• Five years of relevant experience in project and programme management, advocacy, partnerships, project and programme management and/or multistakeholder processes.• Working knowledge (proficient - level C) of English and limited knowledge asset.• Familiarity with international frameworks and policy processes working on sustainable food systems (e.g.Committee on World Food Security (CFS) and High Level Panel of Experts (HLPE), Food Systems Summit and follow-up, decade of ecosystems restoration, decade of family farming, decade of indigenous languages, etc.).• Extent and relevance of experience in the formulation, analysis and support of programmes/project including results-based management and use of specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound indicators.• Extent and relevance of experience on advocacy, advice and narrative development.• Extent and relevance of experience in preparing and implementing agreements with service providers.• Extent and relevance of experience in the field of operations and finance.• Demonstrated capacity to draft technical reports in English.• Working knowledge (proficient - level C) of French or Spanish is considered a strong asset.• Previous working experience on
