RINA is currently recruiting for a Italy Yachting Surveyor to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Marine South West Europe Region Division.
MissionA surveyor in a classification society plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of ships and marine assets. The main responsibilities are aimed at verifying that vessels meet international and classification society standards.
Key AccountabilitiesRegulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to classification society rules, international regulations, and statutory requirements during surveys and inspections. Apply new regulations as they arise.Technical Expertise: Provide expert technical advice to clients, shipowners, and manufacturers on matters related to classification, design, construction, and maintenance. Stay abreast of the latest industry technologies, innovations, and advancements.Problem-Solving: Act as a troubleshooter, addressing technical issues and challenges that may arise during surveys or client interactions.Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance measures in survey processes to uphold the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in inspection reports.Client Education: Educate clients on classification society processes, rules, and the importance of compliance for safety and operational efficiency.Documentation and Reporting: Use standardized templates for inspection reports, ensuring consistency, clarity, and timeliness in reporting. Integrate digital tools for efficient documentation management and reporting.Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices. Actively participate in team meetings.Continuous Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with evolving industry standards, technologies, and best practices.Ethical Conduct: Uphold the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions, ensuring integrity, transparency, and fairness in survey processes.EducationMaster's Degree in Naval Engineering
QualificationsMinimum 3 years' experience as a Junior Surveyor or minimum 5 years' experience in engineering or survey fields within the marine industry.Proficiency in English commensurate with the scope of classification and statutory certification.Ability to develop a working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions.Ability to understand engineering plans and have basic knowledge of shipbuilding practices and operations.Ability to perform new building surveys, ship in service surveys, Marine Management Systems audits, and testing activities.Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery.Knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities.CompetenciesMAKE EFFECTIVE DECISIONSADDRESS THE WAYMANAGE EMOTIONSCLIENT INTIMACYEARN TRUSTPROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENTTHINK FORWARDPIONEER CHANGEBUILD NETWORKWith over 5,600 employees and 200 offices in 70 countries worldwide, RINA provides certification, marine classification, product testing, site supervision, and engineering consultancy services across various sectors.
