**Role:** Mechanical Engineer**Location:** Rome, Italy**Duration:** Until December 2025 (Extension Likely)**Rate:** Negotiable**Project Phase:** Accelerated Pre-FEEDJob Purpose:An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to contribute to a high-profile project in the oil and gas sector.This role involves reviewing vendor technical evaluations and assessing deviations from engineering standards for critical rotating equipment, including compressors, pumps, and gas turbines.The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability across various phases of the project.Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review technical datasheets and supporting documentation for rotating equipment.

  • Participate in technical clarification meetings with vendors.

  • Design and implement cost-effective modifications to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop project specifications.

  • Conduct theoretical design evaluations, testing, and assessments.

  • Engage with manufacturing teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to resolve complex engineering challenges.

  • Apply engineering principles to manage projects effectively.

  • Plan and design new production processes.

  • Develop specifications and outline designs.

  • Recommend modifications based on prototype test results.

  • Utilise research, analytical methods, and computer-aided design for problem-solving.

  • Consider cost, safety, and project timelines when making technical decisions.

  • Monitor and commission plant systems to ensure operational success.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline.

  • 10-15 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, particularly in petrochemical projects.

  • Strong working knowledge of industry standards and procedures.

  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.

  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in MS Office.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
