Module Leader

The Module Lead (ML) is a senior member of the DV team and is responsible for project management and delivery of the mechanical development, performance & functional verification and durability sign off as part of battery design verification plan (DVP).
The ML should work in partnership with the Lead Engineer(s) to ensure all aspects of the DVP are delivered as required to a high standard. The ML ultimately reports to the Principal Engineer for validation.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
* Principally responsible for the project delivery of power unit functional, durability & attribute validation
* testing, ensuring that the team are aligned with the required DVP and all dependencies (enablers) are in place, on time to ensure the team are delivering the test.
* Ensure tests executed using correct hardware, to correct procedures & customer timing requirements.
* Creation, ownership, maintenance of DVP and associated test planning, including technical compliance in support of unit programme gateways.
* The ML is responsible to ensure correct documentation is in place to facilitate DVP delivery, this includes RFQs, test procedures and standards
* Lead continuous improvement activity including creation and maintenance of company standards relevant to role
* Compile & facilitate technical review of RFQ and work instruction documentation to communicate DV test requirements at a detailed level to test facilities both internal and external, ensure communication and buy-in from all stakeholders.
* Ensure DV tests are conducted safely and in accordance to H&S policies.
* Lead & support relevant technical reviews and issue resolution through established processes and standard tools (AIMS/8D)
* Own team metrics for key outputs, including AIMS tracking and technical report delivery, review regular and use leadership to ensure consistent progression high quality outputs using standards.
* Interface with customers of the department effectively. Lead interaction with customers and suppliers, resolving any conflicts and ensuring appropriate escalation of issues for resolution as necessary.
* Support functional status management for allocated systems, in support of overall DVP and engineering signoff
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Strong technical background with knowledge of power unit engineering, components and systems.
* Experience of component/system design and validation.
* Understanding of design principles and the application of quality tools within a product engineering environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline.
* Able to prioritise & derive workload and lead issue resolution both individually and contribute/lead a cross functional team.
* Experience within automotive product design & development environment.
* Expert knowledge of problem solving, and quality tools is essential, together with a structured, logical and objective based approach to all aspects of their role.
* Highly self-motivated and able to act on initiative.
* Strong MS Office skills.
* Ability to coach the team, inspire technical curiosity and depth of understand to raise the overall proficiency of the team.
* Experience and proficiency in creating project planning tools
Desirable:
* Good working knowledge of Product Creation Delivery System (or similar process).
* JIRA, X-Ray, Doors, RTC experience
* Formal project management experience
* Use of software programming to assist efficient data processing (Excel VBA, Matlab, Concerto Scripting).
* Understanding of battery design architecture in an automotive engineering environment.
* Experience of test facility installation, configuration and operation of relevant test facilities.
