Role purposeAs Cloud Design Engineer, you will be part of a global E2E unit in the Cloud Engineering organization that aims to achieve the cloud-ready & cloud-native strategy for Vodafone, as an enabler for the network as a platform, driving cost efficiencies and innovation. You will be responsible for designing and supporting the delivery of the Telco Cloud virtualized infrastructure in Italy and cluster markets in accordance with the Vodafone Cloud Engineering strategy and goals, enabling the onboarding of the core network's tools with best-in-industry quality within the planned time.
You will be accountable and responsible for the design to deployment of infrastructure Virtualization Network for the Cloud-ready platform, mainly focused on VMWare NFV & SDN solutions and Red Hat Open Shift solution, considering capacity efficiency, security, resiliency, and automation, aligned with the peculiarities of NFV workloads. You will also support the Infrastructure build of Network functions into the on-premise cloud environment.
The technology focus is on IaaS, CaaS, PaaS infrastructure (vCloud, vCenter, hypervisor, computing, storage, Network - physical or virtual), remote access solutions, cloud, security, and backup solutions. You will work with the VNF/CNF On Boarding team to automate E2E integrations.

In accordance with Vodafone strategy and focused on Virtual/Containerized Network Functions (V/CFN) and SDN needs, as a member of the Cloud Engineering team, the technology focus from solution design and delivery and best practices perspective will be (but not limited to):
Virtualization and Cloud native platforms overall (IaaS, CaaS, PaaS)VMWare Telco Cloud Platform components, namely: vCloud Director, vSphere, vRealize products (vRealize Operations, Orchestrator, Log inside and network inside), NSX-T, Telco Cloud Automation (TCA), and VMWare Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG);Red Hat Open Shift PlatformHardware and software lifecycle managementInfrastructure in general (hypervisor, computing, storage, Networking - physical or virtual);Deliver Backup Solution to support Telco Cloud PlatformKey accountabilities and decision ownership• Responsible for the solution design and lifecycle management of designed solutions within Cluster IT, GR, AL Vodafone Markets
• Coordinating suppliers, engaging with peers and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of functionality and quality in projects
• Design and Deliver NVI on time and on budget according to the project's timeline
• Support process development and automation of VNF/CNF delivery
• Define, address, track and report on standard and guideline adherence
• Translate technical requirements into business language

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Must have technical/professional qualifications• Degree qualified
• At least 5 years professional experience in cloud and virtualization
• Expert in data centre infrastructure, cloud computing and virtualization architectures (IT and Telco) design and delivery
• Solid understanding of virtualization (VMWare/Openshift Cloud Platform) and containerization (Kubernetes)
• Solid understanding of routing and switching protocols (i.e., BGP / ISIS / OSPF)
• Experience with Kubernetes networking (CNIs, Service Mesh, Network Policies, Ingress/Egress)
• Experience with Network Load Balancers and Firewalls
• Experience in designing/implementing IPv6 solutions
• Scripting expertise is preferred (Power CLI, Powershell, Python, …)
