HHLA PLT Italy is a multipurpose maritime terminal started in 2021, located in the middle of the fast-growing North Adriatic market.
Here, the Expansion Project Team is planning and executing a game changer phased project aiming to integrate the current facility into a fully automated state-of-the-art container terminal, making use of the most advanced technologies and expertise.Your gateway in the Adriatic to Europe.The Operative Buyer is responsible for the spend management for the Expansion Project of HHLA PLT Italy (Logistica Giuliana) and owns the commercial and business relationship with a global/regional supply base in close alignment with HHLA Central Procurement.
The Operative Buyer will follow the strategic directive from HHLA Central Procurement.
This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional capable of managing the procurement process from identifying requirements to final delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
The Operative Buyer is responsible for setting up procurement activities, procedures and processes and leveraging key partnerships to drive TCO, high quality standards and cost savings.
He/she will also establish and lead cross-functional efforts with internal stakeholders, to identify, engage and enable the best partners.Become part of HHLA PLT Italy and shape the gateway to the future with usWhat you can expectPrepare and issue requests for quotations, requests for proposals, and purchase orders.Identify and engage the partners to enable best-in-class quality, delivery, and cost and that align with the project timelines and budgets.Negotiate commercial agreements to meet both technical, operational, and commercial requirements, including after-sales services.Manage contract manufacturers, including traceability and spare parts to ensure continuous operations supply optimization.Ensure compliance with HHLA's business principles, policies, standards and procurement policy, supplier code and best practices as well as Italian andEuropean rules and regulations.Maintain appropriate documentation for audit and control procedures, in addition to timely and accurately, update purchasing records and data.Diversify commodity spend that result in a more balanced distribution between suppliers.Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, status updates, and performance metrics for project management and stakeholders.Ensure effective contract management follow up activities are in place.What you bring to the tableUniversity degree level education or equivalent in Business Administration, Engineering or related field.Experience in supplier evaluation and selection, TCO, cost models, contract negotiation, and supply base management.Experience in project management and working with cross-functional teams.Demonstrated successful use of risk management, responsible sourcing, contract management and supplier relation management.Negotiation and supplier management skills.Excellent command in spoken and written English, Italian is a plus.The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach and be motivated by the opportunity to set up, develop and manage procurement activities in an international environment.
The ideal candidate would have a valid EU working permit and would be willing to work in Trieste.HHLA PLT Italy is part of HHLA Group, with over 6.400 employees worldwide.
