Mechanical Testing Laboratory EngineerLocation: Rome, Materials Technologies DivisionMissionRINA Consulting – Centro Sviluppo Materiali is searching for a new resource to be introduced as Lab Engineer for the "Mechanical Testing" Lab crew.
The Laboratory performs mechanical tests on specimens or medium-scale components or parts of components in their real dimensions, verifying their performance and operating limits, in real conditions of use, or forcing them to destruction to discover their mechanical limits or to characterize the materials (metals, polymers, composites, fibers, fabrics).The Laboratory works in the field of steel, oil gas, power generation, aerospace defense, automotive, additive manufacturing, construction, and many other sectors.
In recent years, the focus on hydrogen has become strong and, as part of the Hydra Project, which RINA designed with a view to energy transition and decarbonization of the steel production process, mechanical testing in hydrogen has become an object of the laboratory's activities.Job ResponsibilitiesSupport in coordination of laboratory activitiesSupervision of test executionPost-test data analysisDrafting of test reports in accordance with standards and/or customer requests (also in English)Support in development of non-standard test procedures and methodsDesign and development of components for standard/non-standard testsMachines maintenance managementSupport in managing quality assurance and maintaining/obtaining certificationsProcurement support (supplier identification, qualification, procurement of offers, receipt of materials)Support in management of lab logisticsCollaboration with other team members to carry out the work and resolve any problemsAdditional Qualifications:Knowledge of EnglishPhysical suitability for laboratory workAvailability to travel (also medium term)The new resource will respond to the Lab Manager and will be introduced in the Lab crew, with internal training (on the job).EducationMaster's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace EngineeringQualifications CompetenciesCLIENT INTIMACY: Embrace internal and external client needs, expectations, and requirements to ensure maximum satisfactionEARN TRUST: Take everyone's opinion into account and remain open to diversityPROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: Promote commitment by keeping promises as a Role ModelMANAGE EMOTIONS: Recognize one's and others' emotions and express and regulate one's reactionsPIONEER CHANGE: Actively embrace change and benefit from the new circumstancesBUILD NETWORK: Forge trust relationships, across departments, and outside the organizationMAKE EFFECTIVE DECISIONS: Structure activities according to priorities, actions, resources, and constraintsADDRESS THE WAY: Have a big picture of different situations and reinterpret it in a perspective wayTHINK FORWARD: Capitalize on experiences and translate them into action plans for the futureWith over 5,600 employees and 200 offices in 70 countries worldwide, RINA is a multinational player that provides certification, marine classification, product testing, site supervision, vendor inspection, training, and engineering consultancy services across a wide range of sectors.
