The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic.
The position is based in Pistoia, Italy.AccountabilitiesThe main activities of the Gangway & Coupler System Engineer consist of:Implementation and modification of the system requirements specifications (SyRS).Implementation and modification of the functional requirements specifications (FRS).Implementation and modification of the functional test specifications (FTS).Management of requirements traceability (sub-systems Compliance Matrix) by using the IBM DOORS application.Technical management of the supplier with the aim of developing the design documentation of the subsystems and their integration.Participation in the project Design Reviews with Customer and Supplier.Management of design documentation and specifications within the Hitachi WindChill G-PLM system.Participation in test activities as specified by the subsystem validation program.Required Skills/ KnowledgeAt least 1 year experience in the railway industry as Gangway & Coupler system engineer.Knowledge of the main regulations/standards related to on-board systems in the railway industry and specifically for Gangway & Coupler.Knowledge of the design processes of on-board railway systems throughout the product life cycle.Knowledge of the IBM DOORS requirements management tool.Knowledge of the main office automation software/tools (Word, Excel, etc.
).Knowledge of basic RAMS analysis concepts is an advantage.Desired Skills/ KnowledgeGood communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work autonomously or with all cross-functional teams, manage priorities effectively and contribute ideas and efforts constructively and practically.Willingness to work effectively in a collaborative and international and multi-cultural environment.Ability to carry out a technical conversation in English with a supplier or customer.Availability for national and international business trips.Education / QualificationsDegree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.LanguagesGood knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory.Thank you for your interest in Hitachi Rail.
