Job Description SummaryAt Avio Aero, a GE Aviation Business unit, we've been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years.
We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for both the civil and military aviation.Avio Aero Advanced Technology Operations is looking for a talented engineer to join our Fluid and Thermal System Design team.
Innovative engines architectures require a step forward in terms of thermal management capabilities.
The introduction of hybrid electric configurations and high-power extraction demand is leading to the need of additional technology development and different thermal design approach to the whole system.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesContribute actively to studies and calculations devoted to get the best detailed thermal and fluid-dynamic secondary system design of new generation aero engines.
Targets, in terms of cycle efficiency, weight and cost, are continuously raising and need great efforts to assure required goals.Collect feedback from partners/customers to improve the level of details of the "thermal secondary flows" analytical assessment, which could impact on the ability to reduce design margins with a possible beneficial impact on product cost, life, performance and maintenance.Act proactively to study the most promising thermal cooling technologies to be introduced in the next-gen engines.Work within the team to define the Secondary Systems and Thermal Design validation process path.Prepare the request for experimental validation and analyze experimental and fielded engines' data to improve design practices and rules.Proactively support and coordinate activities with the GEA global team to implement design corrective actions and product improvements.Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.Interface with the Avio Aero/GEA research network.Qualifications/RequirementsMaster Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university.Previous experience in development of aerospace or industrial product.Knowledge of key aeronautical engines layout and architecture.Fluency in English and Italian languages, both written and oral.Experience with FEM tools (i.e.
Patran, Hypermesh).Good knowledge of 1D fluid network solvers (i.e.
Flowmaster).Good knowledge of Windows-based tools.Good interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work successfully in a global team environment.Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required.Desired CharacteristicsKnowledge and experience in CFD tools/numerical modelling.Basic experience in CAD tools.Capability to work autonomously.Passionate, curious and enthusiastic for engineering challenges.What we offerSmart working and work-life balanceAvio Aero, when possible, promotes remote work and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.
