Alia Therapeutics is looking for a (part-time) Accountant/Financial Controller to join its team,
based in Milan or remote (CET time zone).
Alia Therapeutics is a venture capital backed startup based in Italy and focused on the discovery of
disruptive strategies for gene editing using CRISPR-based approaches with the aim of creating
innovative genetic drugs for the treatment of disorders that are currently incurable. Alia current
investors include Sofinnova Partners, Indaco and BiovelocITA.
We are looking for an experienced Accountant/Financial Controller, who will report to the CEO and,
with the support of the Chartered accountant of the Company, will manage all finance and accounting
operations, coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and
report variances, preparing and publishing timely monthly cash statements.
Accountant/Financial Controller will also contribute to shaping and implementing robust
procurement, budgeting and strategic planning processes as the company grows and its needs and
**demand evolves. Key Responsibilities include**:
- Manage all accounting operations (internal bookkeeping, VAT fulfillment and other
connected),
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report
variances,
- Prepare and publish timely monthly cash-flow updates and quarterly financial statements,
- Support year-end financial closing process,
- Ensure quality control and compliance over accounting processes, financial transactions and
financial reporting,
- Ensure operations are in compliance with legal reporting requirements and tax filings,
- Contribute to shaping and implementing company processes as needs evolve,
- Additional controller duties as necessary.
**Who are we looking for**:
- 3+ years proven working experience as accountant and/or financial controller
- Higher Degree in Accounting or Economics
- Experience with managing accounting and or financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the year-end close process
- Experience with accounting software user (e.g Datev) and administration skills
- Positive attitude, ability to work in teams, excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal
communication skills, problem solving skills, fluent English and Italian What we offer:
