DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:The PE Aide works closely with Physical Education teachers and students on a regular basis in an effort to provide them with instructional support to accelerate growth and proficiency.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Helps student(s) in curriculum tasks as needed by the classroom teacher.Demonstrate knowledge, skill and understanding of activities.Become familiar with units of instruction and daily lesson plans of teacher.Prepares to assist in giving directions and instructions when directed by the teacher.Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.Follow all School Board policies, rules and regulations.Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.Demonstrate support for SKY Academy and its goals and priorities.Assist the teacher with programs and demonstrations.Become familiar with the student code of conduct established by the physical education teacher and channel discipline accordingly.Assist in record keeping and preparation of evaluation/grading.QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of Associate's degree preferred.Successfully meet the Association's policies on background screening.Prior experience working with children.Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with students, parents, school personnel and public health personnel.Ability to file and keep legible records.Ability to accept supervision from Principal and guidance from the public health nurse.Possess technology skills necessary to complete assignments.Ability to organize and prioritize activities.Possess secretarial and telephone skills.CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:Current CPR and First Aid Certifications.Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training.Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class.Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor.WORK ENVIRONMENT PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
