The GPA oversees the College's independent embedded study-abroad courses, which travel abroad during or between semesters as a part of a semester course.
The Administrator is responsible for designing budgets, working with providers, arranging financial aid packets, reviewing itineraries, and assisting faculty in recruiting for their embedded classes.Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, the GPA manages the operations of College's Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative, providing support in the coordination and development of new international exchanges.
The GPA collaborates with CLAS Program Directors and Administrative Assistants in international event planning, international faculty and student exchanges, and program promotion and management.Other responsibilities include contributing to program development, community outreach, faculty exchanges, stakeholder management, publicity, and communications about global programming with the Department of Global Interdisciplinary Studies (GIS), with the Office of International Students and Scholars, the Moran Center for Global Leadership, and the Office of Education Abroad (OEA).
International travel and occasional attendance at evening events is anticipated.Duties and ResponsibilitiesCLAS Study-Abroad ProgramsManage the operations of CLAS Embedded Study-Abroad Programs, including program budgets, itineraries, financial aid, and promotion;Work with international partners and providers on MOUs and contracts; work with faculty on program itineraries and supervise any student project directors.Work closely with Associate Dean on reviewing and approving applications and designing and scheduling embedded programs.International ExchangesCollaborate with Associate Dean on international faculty and student exchanges, including related global campus event planning and promotion.Collaborate with the Associate Dean to plan, develop, promote and execute CLAS online exchanges and Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) programs and global community-based programs.Liase with faculty, international partners, and industry experts to develop best practices.
Create and manage Virtual Exchange grant applications.International and Interdisciplinary ProgramsWork with CLAS interdisciplinary Program Directors and Program Administrative Assistants on campus event planning and promotion, calendar management, payments, recruitment, and budgeting.Assist Program Directors, when needed, in coordinating and advertising study-abroad scholarships, interviews, and applications.Assist in planning study-abroad program reviews and visits.Work closely and collegially with other administrative staff.Be creative, energetic, and proactive in suggesting ways to improve programs.Other dutiesAssist in developing mentoring and welcome programs for international students and visiting faculty, collaborating with the Office of International Students and Scholars.Help organize faculty program director meetings and professional development workshops for CLAS students and faculty.Assist in creating and maintaining websites and forms relating to CLAS global programming, and attend CLAS staff meetings.
* Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree.International experience (including having spent time abroad), event and budget management skills; experience with communications, marketing, and public relations, including website management.Minimum of 5 years experience in academic or international non-profit setting; some experience in customer service preferred.Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills required.Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and events, maintain a professional demeanor in interaction with faculty, alumni, students, staff, external professionals, and the general public.Proficiency in all standard computer applications, including Microsoft office products, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
