**SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Responsible for managing the supply chain for purchased material including processes and procedures from establishment of suppliers through receipt of material.
Assist the Regional Purchasing Manager with objectives as they relate to acquisition of material, supplier development and management, and material cost savings.
**ESSENTIAL DAY TO DAY FUNCTIONS**:
- Responsible for the implementation and development of cost reduction plans on a worldwide basis.
- Develop supplier strategy for new items to seek best price, quality and availability of material in conjunction with technical requirements provided by engineering
- Responsible for developing cost savings approaches and strategies for assigned commodities and suppliers including negotiation, quoting, supplier consolidation, long term agreements/contracts and other strategies approved by Regional Purchasing Manager.
- Execute approved strategies to achieve targeted annual cost savings goals
- Monitor market conditions and trends for assigned commodities.
Responsible for timely recommendations of changes to cost savings strategies as they relate to market trends and conditions.
- Develop and execute supplier reduction/consolidation strategies to meet annual Purchasing goals
- Monitor purchase price variance; develop and execute action plans for both unfavorable and favorable commodities/suppliers
- Facilitate resolution to supplier quality issues including management of the NCR process in collaboration with the quality team
- Develop action plans and manage the execution of supplier improvements to eliminate quality issues and improve delivery performance to meet G&W requirements
- Recommend changes to purchasing processes to improve on-time delivery to customers
- Establish "blanket" orders in the ERP system; manage transition of expiring purchase orders and agreements.
- Manage the transactional processes of supplier management in the ERP system to ensure accurate active supplier information and pricing; collaborate with accounting to ensure proper "standard cost" annually and at time of new item introduction
- Responsible for gathering and reporting established purchasing metrics in support of the overall supply chain metrics.
Metrics may include purchase price variance by buyer/supplier/commodity, MRO cost savings and supplier reduction.
- Recommend purchasing management changes that will improve material availability levels without jeopardizing customer service, safety stock levels, ordering parameters, etc
- Coach and develop functional reports
**QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION**
- Minimum four year Bachelor degree preferably in business or engineering.
- Previous experience in purchasing management/supply chain management in a manufacturing setting required
- Direct experience as a buyer
- Experience in a "make to order" or "engineer to order" manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong ERP knowledge and background in supplier management and negotiations; JDE a plus
- APICS or ISM certification a plus
- Experience with building presentations for an executive audience a plus
- Working experience in a matrix organization a plus
**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Strong computer skills, including MS Word and MS Excel
- Excellent communication skills and presentation skills; MS PowerPoint
- Strong analytical skills; ability to identify root cause
- Hands on approach, sense of urgency, commitment towards achieving a given target (short and mid-long term)
