Transport Manager (Southern Region EMEA) Leading the transport function for the Southern Region in EMEA, you will manage a team of experienced transport specialists, responsible for ensuring that goods are shipped efficiently while meeting service, legal and cost parameters. In this role, you will be responsible for the effective transport operations and continuous improvement of transport processes across Italy, France and Spain . You will report to the Senior Vice President Logistics EMEA.
Job Purpose:
You will lead the Southern Region Transport Team, ensuring best cost, efficient and service-focused transport solutions, both inbound and outbound, across the region. You will build on existing systems and processes to complete the roll out of TMS, the alignment of processes across countries and the development of a best cost network. You will lead the regular tendering of business, the monitoring of service levels and the delivery of effective end-to-end solutions for both internal functions and external stakeholders. You will work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers and suppliers to ensure that all import/export/crosstrade shipments are freight and customs compliant.

Key Accountabilities:
· People management – you will lead our team of experienced transport planners, ensuring best practice while at the same time motivating and exciting them.
· Collaboration – you will work closely with other functions inside Berlin Packaging (Purchasing, Sales, Aftersales & Service, Operations and Financial Accounting) to ensure we deliver most effective end-to-end freight processes, designed to be best cost while delighting our customers. You will work closely with external stakeholders (freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers and suppliers) to guarantee service levels and compliance.
· Systems Roll Out – you will be a key leader in the roll out of Transport Management Systems (TMS) into new countries and into teams who have not used it previously.
· Best Cost Delivery – you will design and lead tenders to freight forwarders, for both inbound and outbound freight, across all countries in the Southern Region.
· Global Sea Freight – you will work closely with colleagues in the US to ensure a best-cost global sea freight network, including collaborative use of a common 4PL TMS, and global sea freight tenders.
· Procurement Strategies – you will work closely with purchasing to support them in sourcing from best-cost suppliers, including freight cost.
· Communication – you will be the key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on all aspect of transport, influencing key strategic decisions, providing tactical solutions, and guiding functions throughout the business.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
·10+ years of experience leading transport planners in foreign trade with export and import operations
·English fluency: able to lead technical and leadership discussions in English. Any other language will be considered an additional benefit
·Deep knowledge of freight cost structures and customs processes
·Demonstrated ability in analyzing and solving problems, with energy and focus
·Strong communication and interpersonal skills
·Very good planning & organizational skills, and efficiency in operational tasks
·Negotiating skills, cost awareness, a pragmatic approach with an instinct for innovative processes
·High willingness to serve, flexibility and ability to work under pressure
·Independent, solution-oriented and structured working style
·Proficient in Microsoft Office
