As part of a multi-year project that involves the implementation and management of the HPC farm and the Server of the European Meteorological Center (ECMWF), E4 is looking for a Datacenter Technician to provide assistance on advanced computing systems, alongside a software specialist for the administrative management of the data center
Duties and responsibilities Cooperation with the customer for system monitoringPoint of contact for problemsReceiving support requests (from users or monitoring systems), tracing them to the system, giving priority, taking action for diagnosis and resolutionSupport the implementation of the physical data center infrastructure on siteEscalation to central support teams or third partiesAssistance to the users involved, informing them on the progress of the solutionRepair of systems with spare parts available or to be requested from serviceDrafting/updating reports and technical documentationInvolvement in other European projectsInstall, replace, and troubleshoot cables and hardwareWork within a ticket-based environmentMoving equipment using pallet jacks or other assisted lifting equipment.Assist with shipping/receiving and inventory management to address high volumes of workSkills and requirements: Basic knowledge of the English languageSome of the following skills or experience listed in order of decreasing importance:Hardware and software operating fundamentalsBasic Linux knowledge preferredHardware and/or Server (experience in High-Performance Computing will also be positively evaluated)Support servicesWinning features: Willingness to get involved, specialize, increase skills and abilities, aptitude for constant improvementAbility to plan medium/long term activities to consistently achieve one's objectivesResult-oriented approach, ability to work in an organized team and towards objectives, practicalityRelational skills, team working, flexibilityEffective communication, critical thinking, active listeningDriving change by bringing clarity, generating energy and delivering successEnhance a culture of safety and security in global data center operations by adhering to security programs and policiesDevelop positive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.What we offer?
