col-wideJob Description:Job title: Software EngineerWolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Software Engineer to join its Web Product Engineering group. This Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining software applications. This position involves analyzing users' needs and then designing, testing and developing software to meet those needs.ResponsibilitiesCollaborating with multiple teams to produce projects of varying sizes and levels of complexityBuilding and maintaining web applications for the Wolfram Cloud, Wolfram Community and other Wolfram productsCreating and utilizing REST web servicesConfiguring and running Apache Tomcat, NGINX and similar servlet containersCreating technical documentation for applicationsHelping with the maintenance of legacy applicationsUtilizing knowledge of and experience with J2EE, Java, MySQL, HTML, CSS, LifeRay, JavaScript (React, Vue, etc.), Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Hibernate, unit testing, OAuth, Mathematica, Git, Jira and the Apache HTTP web serverWorking closely with Quality Assurance to test, debug and release quality code updatesWriting unit tests to prevent common regressionsQualificationsBachelor's degree (or a foreign equivalent) in computer science, engineering, math, physics or a related technical or quantitative field2+ years of experience in software engineeringExperience in: Analyzing requirements and developing software applications using SDLC methodologiesDesigning and developing interactive user interfacesWriting custom APIs using JavaProviding manual and automated testing solutions for distributed application architecturesDeveloping and executing automated functional, regression and integration test cases using an automation toolDelivering quality assurance testing reports for product quality and testing readinessDeveloping database wrapper functions for data staging and modeling data objectsLocation: Fully remote and seeking candidates from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Morocco and ArmeniaJob type: Full time (40 hours per week)/Independent ContractorReporting to: Director of Systems EngineeringWolfram is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at its company.
