Description and Requirements
Global Energy and Commodity Management and Chief Pricing Officer (GECM & CPO) operates in wholesale physical and financial markets for energy commodities and manages the integrated portfolio of the Group with the aim of maximizing margins from energy while mitigating risks.
Within GECM & CPO, the Global Market Analysis for Strategic Development Unit supports medium to long-term strategic analyses for the Group (such as investment assessments and long-term commercial opportunities, the Industrial Plan, Capacity Strategy, etc.) and defines the analysis methodologies and models for market scenario simulation, adapting them to the specifics of the Country and verifying their correct application.
To support these processes, we are looking for a Market Analyst and Modeler who will mainly be responsible for the development, evolution, and maintenance of quantitative analysis models and tools used in long-term scenario elaborations related to various geographies of interest for the Group.
The ideal candidate has experience in modeling the fundamental dynamics underlying energy markets, solid mathematical and programming skills, and robust analytical capabilities. A strong passion for innovation and challenges, along with the propensity to work in an international context, completes the profile.
Main Responsibilities:
Contribute to the development, evolution, and management of existing models.
Collaborate in the study, definition, and development of new models and analysis tools for evaluating opportunities related to both new and established businesses and technologies.
Explore and promote technologies and tools aimed at facilitating information exchange among colleagues and sharing best practices across different Enel geographies.
Design, define, and implement dedicated reporting tools for the Unit and/or Top Management.
Support colleagues in interpreting models and results related to complex analyses conducted to support economic and risk assessments of both assets and potential commercial opportunities.
Required Skills:
Excellent knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C, C++, VBA, Matlab, R.
Strong understanding of probability and statistics and Monte Carlo techniques.
Good knowledge of constrained optimization algorithms.
Good knowledge of electricity generation technologies.
Proficient in Office Suite, particularly Excel/PowerPoint.
Familiarity with database usage.
Knowledge of economics and finance fundamentals and electric markets (Energy, Capacity, Green Certificates, and Ancillary Services) is considered a plus.
Familiarity with reporting tools such as Spotfire and Power BI is considered a plus.
Soft Skills:
Ability to analyze business needs.
Problem-solving orientation.
Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
Initiative and curiosity about market dynamics.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in analysis and modeling activities at a company or in academic research.
Education:
Master's degree (or equivalent) in a quantitative discipline (Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics); a Ph.D. is considered a plus.
Languages:
Excellent spoken and written English. Knowledge of Spanish is considered a plus.
