ABOUT WFP The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impact of climate change.
The position is based in Rome, Italy and reports to the Head of the Impact Evaluation Unit, in WFP's Office of Evaluation.
THE ROLE Your role will be to provide rigorous, independent, and credible impact evaluation evidence. Reporting to the Head of Impact Evaluation Unit, you will help to ensure impact evaluations use rigorous methods to meet the highest quality standards and contribute to decision making and global evidence.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):
Manage and guide Impact Evaluation (IE) teams to produce independent, credible impact evaluation evidence that meets the highest academic standards, ensuring alignment with UN norms and codes of conduct.Manage high-profile and complex impact evaluations, ensuring rigorous design, preparation and execution of all related activities, oversee the collection and analysis of data, and the preparation of evaluation reports.Keep abreast of methodological developments in research, data science, and evaluation.Provide quality assurance for WFP impact evaluations managed by the IE unit at each phase.Produce and coordinate the effective communications of WFP impact evaluation activities and outputs.Build impact evaluation capacity of IEU and WFP staff through development and delivery of trainings and events.Liaise with counterparts from other academic and UN organizations as well as professional evaluation bodies.Participate in WFP internal evaluation expertise groups.Manage select Impact Evaluation Unit staff and consultants.Guide the effective reporting of OEV impact evaluation activities.Take responsibility for an equitable and inclusive workplace.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Education: A doctoral degree (PhD) in academic disciplines relevant to impact evaluation or a master's degree with additional years of research and rigorous impact evaluation experience.
Experience: A minimum of 8 years of technical leadership experience in rigorous impact evaluation within an international organization, development agency, academia, government or the private or non-profit sectors.
Language: Fluency in English and intermediate knowledge of a second official UN language.

Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.Proficiency in statistical analysis software packages.Experience with data management.Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse teams.Excellent communication skills.TERMS AND CONDITIONS This is an International Professional position and is open to all nationalities. Mobility is a core contractual requirement in WFP. The selected candidate will be employed on a fixed-term contract with a probationary period of one year.
