Posting Details (Default Section) Posting Number: 20244123S Position Title: Waste Collector Position Type: Staff Location: Villanova, PA Recruitment Type: Internal/External Applicants Work Schedule: full-time/12-months Avg Hours Week Department: 791-FS - Administration Position Summary: Under moderate supervision, assists in loading large waste collection truck in the collection and disposal of University waste.

Duties and Responsibilities: a. Hooks up and/or operates compactors, waste receptacles, and dumpsters throughout campus. b. Assists the Waste Collection Truck Driver in performing scheduled preventative maintenance on compactors and truck.
c. Immediately reports any unsafe situations to supervisor or Public Safety.
d. Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by the University.
e. Works closely with supervisor to improve route efficiency and identify best practices.
f. Follows route assignments as directed and completes any required documentation.
g. Immediately notifies supervisor of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
h. Notifies supervisor of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, street, alleyways, or potential safety hazards. i. Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair or replacement.
j. Performs any necessary housekeeping in and around trash enclosures, truck, or other equipment.
k. Carries out all job duties as defined under other job classifications normally assigned to the Grounds Division, such as Gardener.
l. Performs other duties assigned within the normal scope of the department's responsibilities and the individual's capabilities.

Non Essential Job Functions:
a. Obtain and maintain CDL & DOT certification to back up incumbent Waste Collection Truck Driver. Minimum Qualifications: a. Ability to follow both verbal and written directions.
b. Ability to interact with customers (students, faculty, administration) in a positive and helpful manner.
c. Must be able to climb ladders, to bend and reach, and to lift (up to 60 lbs.).
d. At least three years of successful work experience in a laboring job. Preferred Qualifications: Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: Work under adverse weather conditions, including extreme hot and cold. Work will include response to weather conditions at any hour of day or night when notified.
