Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:

- Perform routine and non-routine tests on raw materials, pulp, paper, and related products using standard laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Conduct physical, chemical and mechanical analyses to assess product quality, including tests for strength, brightness, porosity and moisture content.
- Prepare and standardize reagents, solutions and test samples according to established protocols.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments in proper working order, performing calibrations and routine maintenance as necessary.
- Record test data accurately and maintain detailed documentation of procedures, results and observations.
- Analyze test results and interpret findings, identifying deviations from specifications and reporting any quality issues or anomalies.
- Collaborate with production, quality control, and research and development teams to investigate and resolve quality-related issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures in the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals.
- Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements and regulatory changes relevant to paper manufacturing and quality assurance.
- Assist in the development and validation of new testing methods and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy in the laboratory.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, paper science, or a related field, alternatively, an associate degree or equivalent certification with relevant laboratory experience may be considered.)
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in the paper or pulp industry, with knowledge of testing methodologies and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with quality control principles and practices, including statistical analysis and process improvement techniques.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot problems and interpret complex data.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate and communicate findings with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently, managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance, with knowledge of relevant OSHA and industry-specific regulations.
- Knowledge of papermaking processes and industry-specific standards such as ISO.
- Fluency in Italian and English.
