Gardener (Giardiniere)

Under the direction of the Head Gardener, the Gardener is responsible for maintaining gardens and landscaped areas. This position requires carrying out ordinary maintenance activities of the external garden areas, with persistence, efficiency, and reliability.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Tilling the soil (deals with hoeing, digging, weeding, eradicating weeds, fertilizing, preparing compost, improving drainage, composition and texture of the soil)..
- The care of trees and hedges (plants, fertilization, treatments, pruning, even at high altitudes, both training and topiary), for which he uses suitable tools, both manual and motorized such as diggers, hedge trimmers, brush cutters, wire cutters, electric scissors, safety harnesses etc.
- Lawn care (sowing, intermingling, watering, fertilizing, mowing and finishing) for which he uses lawn tractors, brush cutters, raiders and hand lawnmowers.
- Care of flower arrangements, vases and floral displays (plants and caring for decorative flowerbeds and vases, carries out manual weeding, removes dried blooms and waters vases and borders).
- Care of the vegetable garden and fruit plants, with particular attention to organic and sustainable cultivation methods.
- The management of non-compostable waste and garden waste in general, which is handled with the aid of vans and tractors.
- Cleaning and ordinary maintenance of the areas, structures and furnishings present in the gardens, even if not made up of vegetation (paths, car parks, fountains, clearings, pergolas, gazebos, ladders and furnishings, electrical systems and irrigation).
- Provides cleaning, ordinary maintenance and storage of both work clothing, protective devices and tools, work tools and materials.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION**:

- Diploma in Agriculture.
- Possession of a license for pesticides and any previous experience in the field.
- Minimum work experience is required, as is knowledge of the operation of work tools and their maintenance.

**Mansioni e responsabilità**

Il Giardiniere svolge attività di manutenzione ordinaria delle aree esterne adibite a giardino, secondo le direttive dei capo-giardinieri. Al Giardiniere si richiede efficienza, resistenza e affidabilità. Alcune delle principali mansioni e responsabilità di cui si deve occupare sono:

- la lavorazione del terreno (si occupa di zappare, vangare, sarchiare, estirpare le erbacce, fertilizzare, preparare compost, migliorare il drenaggio, la composizione e tessitura del terreno)
- la cura del ciclo vitale delle piante (seminare e moltiplicare, piantare, annaffiare, applicare trattamenti contro malattie e insetti), il tutto con l'ausilio delle attrezzature tipiche del mestiere quali zappe, rastrelli, cesoie, scope, vanghe e così via.
- la cura degli alberi e delle siepi (impianti, concimazione, trattamenti, potature, anche in quota, sia di formazione che di arte topiaria), per le quali utilizza strumenti idonei, sia a mano che motorizzati quali scavatorini, tosasiepi, decespugliatori, tronchesi, forbici elettriche, imbragature di sicurezza etc.
- la cura dei prati (seminare, interricciare, innaffiare, concimare, tosare e rifinire) per i quali utilizza trattorini tosaerba, decespugliatori, raider e tosaerba a mano.
- la cura degli allestimenti fioriti, dei vasi e delle scenografie floreali, (impianta e cura le aiuole decorative ed i vasi, effettua il diserbo manuale, rimuove le fioriture secche e provvede alla irrigazione di vasi e bordure).
- La cura dell’orto e delle piante da frutta, con particolare attenzione ai metodi di coltivazione biologici e sostenibili.
- La gestione della risulta non compostabile e in genere dei rifiuti del giardino, la cui movimentazione avviene con ausilio di furgoni e trattori.
- Rientrano tra i compiti del giardiniere la pulizia e la manutenzione ordinaria delle aree, le strutture e gli arredi presenti nei giardini, anche se non costituiti da vegetazione (viali, parcheggi, fontane, spiazzi, pergole, gazebi, scalette e arredi, impianti elettrici e di irrigazioni)
