EDI is looking for **Lookdev artist** for commercials and features film.

A lookdev artist, also known as a look development artist or shader artist, is a specialized role within the field of computer graphics and animation. Lookdev artists are responsible for creating and implementing the visual appearance of characters, objects, and environments in a production. They work closely with other members of the production team, such as art directors, model artists, and lighting artists, to ensure consistency and achieve the desired aesthetic.

**Job responsibilities**:

- Material and shader creation: developing and fine-tuning materials and shaders for characters, props, and environments to achieve the desired visual look and feel
- Lighting setup: collaborating with lighting artists to establish the lighting setup that complements the desired look and ensures the correct interaction between light and materials
- Collaboration with other departments: working closely with concept artists, modelers, and texture artists to understand and interpret the artistic vision and technical requirements of the project
- Problem-solving: identifying and troubleshooting visual issues, such as shading artifacts or lighting inconsistencies, and finding creative solutions to achieve the desired results
- Research and development: staying up-to-date with the latest techniques, tools, and industry trends related to look development and shader creation.

**Required skills**:

- Strong artistic and visual sense: Understanding color theory, composition, lighting principles, and visual storytelling to create appealing and cohesive looks
- Proficiency in 3D software: a solid understanding of 3D modeling and texturing software such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, Substance Painter, or Mari
- Texturing skills: familiarity with texture creation techniques, including UV mapping, texture painting and procedural texture generation
- Attention to detail: being meticulous and having a keen eye for detail to ensure the quality and consistency of the visual elements
- Collaboration and communication: strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with other team members and communicate ideas and solutions
- Problem-solving and adaptability: the ability to identify and solve technical and artistic challenges and adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines
- Showreel and/or portfolio demonstrating experience in look development, shader creation, texturing and lighting
- Experience using production quality renderers (es. Redshift, Arnold, Mantra)
- Basic compositing experience, using Nuke or equivalent
- Knowledge of python/mel a plus.
