**YOUR TEAM**

The Soft Biorobotics Perception (SBRP) research line is led by Dr. Lucia Beccai. You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group and collaborate with the team to carry out research within outstanding facilities.

The aim is to explore how natural muscular hydrostats, special appendages with extraordinary dexterity composed of muscles with a smart arrangement like the elephant trunk, can inspire novel continuum arms with enhanced capabilities. Within the team, your main responsibilities will be to design, fabricate and test the bioinspired soft robotic continuum arm.

**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Ph.D. in mechatronics/mechanical engineering, robotics, or in a closely related discipline.
- Documented experience and strong knowledge in:

- Mechanical design, fabrication and assembly of tendon-driven soft systems and pneumatically actuated systems.
- Computer-aided design, enabling device prototyping/fabrication (SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or others)
- Hands-on experience with robotic platforms
- Fabrication techniques for soft systems (possibly including 3D printing)
- A strong publication record
- The ability to properly report, organize and publish research data
- Good command in spoken and written English
